when does this code expire?

code expires 08/16, travel by 12/31, min $ 800

facebook travel by 09/30, min $ 350

min 3 nights

so, if you want to make both promos work, you have to travel by 09/30, stay at least 3 nights and spend $ 800. basically a $ 800 hotel turns into a $ 500 hotel.

Assuming the Travelocity coupon is 20% taken off instantly and the FB coupon is 20% off after that, it's 36% off total. ^

For the Facebook promo, without question.

You are prompted to enter your Amex card number on the Facebook offer [via secure connection] and then you are given a statement credit on your Amex Bill.

T&C of the bit where you register the card on facebook says its US issued Amex cards only.

the 20% code on travelocity does appear to work, but i wonder do you need to use an US amex (or indeed Amex at all) at checkout ?

Here are the T&C For the Facebook Promo:
To be eligible to receive a statement credit equal to 20% of your transaction amount, you must click the 'Confirm' button and use your linked Card account to make a single purchase of $350 or more on hotel bookings at the listed merchant through 8/31/11. Limit one statement credit per Cardmember. Registration is limited. Statement credits are generally issued within 2-3 business days after your qualifying purchase, but may take up to 2 billing periods to post to your account. Savings apply only at participating hotels and varies by hotel and package. Discount is based on length of stay and will be subtracted from the price of the hotel. The discount is based upon the total hotel price excluding taxes and other fees. The 20% Promotional offer is valid only for qualifying purchases made on the Site using any valid American Express Card. A qualifying purchase means a 3 Night or Longer GoodBuy Hotel stay which is offered on the Site during the Promotion Period. Travel dates must be between on July 19, 2011 and September 30, 2011. Promo appears dead.

We're sorry, we could not complete your request at this time.
Possible Causes:
This discount is no longer available. Each promo code can only be redeemed by a limited number of users, and this one has reached its maximum. We recommend that when you see a code for a trip you'd like to take, you book your travel as quickly as possible.

T+C do not mention limited quantities and have an August expiry. Promo seems extremely short-lived

although the 20% discount is dead, you can still get an instant 10% discount on Travelocity if booking with amex card, using the code AMX10H. i saw it publicized for use in booking NYC hotels and figured why not try it for other locations. in my case i used it for 10% off a hotel in Rome where my total cost was >700$. This was last night. YMMV.

code works. so, it is now a total discount of something like 27% or so... still, not bad. min with 10% off code is only $ 600, not $ 800 as with the 20 % off code.

Thank you FlirtatiousFlyer!

You are welcome, hopefully this 10% off will last a little longer than the 20% did. Keep in mind though that for most hotels (i've been researching this week) travelocity is only a bargain over expedia or orbitz if you use the 10% and then the 20% facebook offer. Otherwise their base price is significantly higher than their competition and i can't figure out why.

And why is it that some of the hotels I am interested in aren't "GoodBuy" hotels? ("GoodBuy" is a requirement for the promotion.)

The St. Regis Osaka isn't , while other Starwoods in town are...
The Landmark Oriental isn't , while the Mandarin Oriental is?+

Ideally, i would combine this with the Facebook promotion.

AMEX20H code is indeed working on travelocity.com:-

Total Before Savings: $1,637.94
Less Promotional Code Savings $327.59

Total for 1 Room $1,310.35

With this 20% saving, travelocity is currently the cheapest price online for the hotel I've been watching (and I've been watching it like a hawk on a doxen booking sites). I'm not bookin it though as the travelocity price on this particular hotel is a non-refundable rate, and as my destination is Las Vegas and dates are in Nov, I feel its likely I'll see something better later.

Does a Travelocity booking of more than $350 automatically trigger the 20% statement credit or is there something one has to "add" to one's account. I searched through all the "add ons" and a Travelocity promo was not amongst them.

**NEVER MIND** It appeared when I signed off FB and reloaded the page.

Stupid, stupid question, but I'll ask anyway..

When they say you have to book with an AMEX card, the card can be issued from say.. Citi and have an AMEX logo, correct? It doesn't necessarily refer to a card issued by AMEX only right?

So I'm a little confused about how this deal works. This is what I did.

1) Liked AMEX on FB.
2) Linked my AMEX card.
3) Booked a hotel with the code on Travelocity about an hour after linking.

I did get the 20% off on Travelocity. I did not get an email about the FB discount. I didn't get a confirmation about the FB linking until about 5 hours after I booked the hotel. On the AMEX FB page there are the options to pick deals to add to your AMEX deal "account". Travelocity is not listed there.

So, was there anything I was supposed to do other than liking and linking? Was there once a Travelocity discount deal I had to add to my account? I'm a little concerned about not getting the confirmation email about the linking until a few hours after I booked the hotel. Can the Amex CSRs tell me if it's good. I can still cancel and rebook.

To answer my own question. Seems you do need to check add the Travelocity deal to your FB account after linking. It would have been good to have been more detailed OP. I can't rebook anymore since the hotel is unavailable for a couple of dates now.

Seems like the code might be dead on Travelocity. I've just tried to use it on a couple hotels and it comes back as an invalid code. Hope it is just a temporary glitch.

Both deals worked for me (20% AMEX code and Facebook deal). As noted above with respect to the Facebook deal, you need to "like" AMEX on FB, then link your AMEX card #, and THEN sign up for the Travelocity deal -- before booking (if you don't see the Travelocity deal, keep clicking the button at the bottom of the AMEX FB "Link Like Love" page until the Travelocity deal appears).

Note that the AMEX code may be deactivated if you try to use other discounts/deals. I first tried to obtain an additional 3.5% off for booking through ebates/fatwallet, but Travelocity would not accept the 20% AMEX code after I had linked through ebates/fatwallet. I tried to clear cookies, etc., but I eventually had to use a different computer to make the reservation. It was worth it, though -- saved almost $500.

This code is not valid when booking a package, only a GoodBuy hotel!!!
Anyway, it offers only $400 savings for high priced hotels.
Therefore, I used Savings15 and immediately after checkout received email from AMEX "Congratulations! You saved on your purchase by using the American Express® Card you linked with Facebook. Expect a statement credit in 3-5 days."
In my situation, was better to book flight separately, and also saved 5% using Chase visa.
Thank's for sharing the code!

I note the T&C's say no hotel points with this deal. Anyone have any luck calling a hotel to get the account number added?

I got in on the code and the FB Like. I hope it pans out. The code is maxed out at $400 off of a booking to Hilton Grand Vacation Club Lagoon Tower 2 Bedroom - non refundable for $2900 after taxes and coupon. I hope the statement credit goes through for approx another $500-$600 off for 7 nights in October.

I booked a reward room as well last month in the hotel portion. I doubt they would place my reward room in Lagoon tower, but has that ever happened?

I just took advantage of this promotion to take 40% off a last minute JW Marriott reservation. Fab deal. Any idea if the AMEX promotion can be used more than once?

YES, it worked for me on two separate bookings. I didn't expect it and so was confused when I saw a huge credit on my AMEX. Then I added the the two separate hotel bookings and the discount matched.

Thank you OP. I got oceanfront all-inclusive 4-stars resort in Cancun for $127 per room per nite total!^

From the Amex20h page on travelocity...
GoodBuy Hotel purchase requires a minimum spend of $800. A maximum discount of $400 can be applied.

They added this after I called inquiring about why every time I entered the code I only got $400 discount max even if my booking was for more than $3000. The system was already set up to max it out at $400 (at least when I tried making dummy bookings) so I figured calling in wasn't going to ruin any body's deal. And I didn't mention anything about stacking the code with the Amex statement credit.

I also emailed Amex to make sure that the statement credit applied to the total purchase regardless of quantity of rooms. And they confirmed via email that it was indeed the case. The statement credit applied to the transaction total. I didn't ask if it could apply to multiple transactions because it says on the Amex Link, Like, Love page re: this offer:

...to make a single purchase of $350 or more on hotel bookings at the listed merchant through 8/31/11. Limit one statement credit per Cardmember.

...so, that seemed pretty self-explanatory to me that it would only apply to a single purchase and only one statement credit per cardmember (but to those who got it to apply multiple times, congrats!).

Both times to Travelocity and Amex, I didn't mention anything about stacking discounts, so, no worries about getting the offer killed.

Just a bit of analysis assuming spending $800 face value:
3 nights - $170/nt; save $96/nt
4 nights - $128/nt; save $72/nt
5 nights - $102/nt; save $58/nt
6 nights - $85/nt; save $48/nt

If you go six nights, you'd be better off with Expedia BRG, unless you value $12 less than the hassle of getting 6 BRGs.

I did the above calculations myself as I'm considering Tokyo hotels...

Man what a shame you cannot get points/stay credits through Travelocity generally.

Kind of surprised this has not gotten more responses. I mean, an almost 40% reduction in hotel is pretty substantial.

You can still use code AMX10H for 10% off your stay. It is not as good but still a very decent coupon when combined with the 20% refund. I don't know the minimum but it worked for my $600 3 night stay in HK.

I also received a confirmation email from AMEX within three minutes of my purchase.

Really? I just tried another dummy booking and it worked just fine for me. Make sure you're selecting a "Good Buy" hotel and that your total is $1,000 minimum. As someone else posted earlier, I think that's the minimum required spend in order to get the discount. For anything less than $1,000, go with the AMX10H promo code.
