First time post on the VA board. title says it all. ideally i guess it would be through SFO, but for a first time VS experience, i wouldnt mind connecting at SFO and JFK on the outbound.
not even sure if its possible and i think it would have to be booked through my VS account.

You can book using Amex rewards, but not directly. You'll have to get Amex Travel do it for you.

You should ask this in the Virgin Atlantic forum. This is Virgin America.

I thought the virgin brands were more connected. it seems like its easier to book a VS flight through CO than it is with VA.
I was hoping on flying VA to SFO or JFK and then switch to VS. I guess ill have to do it through VS.

Virgin Atlantic and Virgin America do have an interline agreement. If you choose to do that, Virgin Atlantic would have to make the reservation for both airlines.
Your original question was about using Amex miles to book.
