Shop around. The French car leasing rates can be quite high. I am looking at a 6 week rental in France and the cost for a mini minivan (e.g., the Ford Transit Connects that are just starting to show up in N. America) ran 2x that for renting the same class of car. However, you do get full insurance and a new car.
Bear in mind that if you're relying on credit card insurance coverage, the number of days of coverage is limited. My CC allows up to 48 days. I believe most U.S. CC coverage is limited to 4 weeks or 30 days.
