I am looking for one-way car rental deal from SJC to San Diego. I will be flying into SJC on Aug 19 and flying out of San Diego (SAN) on Aug 28. I have already checked hertz, National, fox, Enterprise, Avis and all of them are charging the drop fees
Do let me know if anybody knows about a deal or how to get it?

You don't say what were the total prices you found, which is the important thing. In some cases you may not see a seaprate drop-fee, but the basic rental cost could still be higher than for an r.t. (i.e., a de facto one-way fee). This site, and sister site Cruisecritic.com, have had lots of posts about discount codes. CC, at least, has separate branches for each rental company.

I'm in the midst of arranging car rentals, some one-way, for an upcoming trip. I've checked for prices using various car rental discount codes I'm entitled to, such as AARP, Costco, USAA and AAdvantage. Results varied widely for each rental. No one code was always the best. Also checked sites of Southwest, Hotwire, etc. I've not yet tried naming my own price through Priceline. Last year, a friend said they got a super low price renting a car at SJC and dropping it at SAN through the Southwest site. I don't worry too much about one-way/drop-off fees, especially since they are sometimes "hidden": I worry about the final price.

The cheapest I found was around $360 from Fox(including everything). But this includes $150 drop fee which I hate to pay

Fox is reputed to be a company that is problematic. I would not rent from them.

$360 is cheap for such a rental, even though it includes a drop-o0ff charge. I don't think there's much chance you'll find such a rental for much less than that total. You may just have to get past dislike of the concept of a one-way charge and concentrate on getting the best rate overall, as long as you get the size car you want and from a reputable company (I know nothing about Fox). As I said, I've found that one-way rentals without a listed one-way charge may still come with a higher rate than if you rented and returned at the same location.

Out of curiosity I checked Hotwire's site, and they show, for your locations and dates, a full-size car for $496 total. Non-refundable, and you don't know the company until you rent (their site sometimes gives options where you know the company in advance). American Airlines site (not the Aadvantage page, just the "car" link from the main page) shows $497 from Thrifty or Dollar. That's again for full-size car, so you could get a smaller car and save a few bucks. The Southwest Airlines site shows the same cars/companies for a couple of cents less. Prices above are based on picking up and dropping off at the same hour (i.e., even number of days, no extra hourly charges) and, of course, don't include insurance.

I fly into SJC all the time and Fox is my go to company. I never had a problem with them and think it is unfair to post secondhand commentary if you have not had a personal experience with them.

I did need to rent a one way from SJC to SAN and ended up using Alamo because they had a great deal on the size of the vehicle I needed including the drop off fee.

Have you tried carrentals.com? I have had great success with them finding great deals. Fox came in at $348.00 when I just did a search.

Also if you "like" Fox on Facebook they have some excellent coupons and discount codes.

Do you need to keep it for one way this entire time?

Yes I have to keep it one way as I am flying out of San Diego.

I understand but are you gonna be away from SJC and SAN this entire time?

It is usually cheaper to have a combination of 2-3 rentals with a shorter oneway one (for example 3 days SJC, 2 days SJC-SAN, 4 days SAN).

Check the individual car rental forums. There are often discount codes that offer no drop charges, especially within California, and many are posted there.
