I lurked as long as I could, now I need answers...

In few weeks my whole family (six of us) will have 10K UA points that they'll never use (I fly DL). When I reddem UA points for HHonors points, do they have to be deposited into an HHonors with the same name? Ie, can I put all the miles into my HHonors account? Does this depend on the airline? I've only transferred DL miles before, and the process is different.

Also, is there a way use points to get real suites, or other accomadtions appropriate for a family of six, without using miles for a seperate room for my 4 little ones?

Thanks

FarAway -- Welcome to the Board!

Your UA miles will be transferred to your HHonors account (10,000 UA miles would become 20,000 HHonors points).

In terms of "real suites, or other accomodations appropriate for a family of six", you are out of luck in most cases (not all though, look for the all-suite properties, that may have accomodations suitable for a family).

I know I can post my miles to my account, but can I post their miles to my account, or do I have to open seperate accounts for each of them?

FarAway -- Sorry for misreading your question. One possibility is to pool together your miles-turned-points with your spouse's through the HHonors Mutual Fund (http://www.hilton.com/hhonors/terms.html#mutual). Just keep in mind that HHonors Reward Exchange (http://www.hilton.com/hhonors/rewards/exchange_1.html) requires increments of 5,000 miles.

Hope this helps.

I have that very same question--My children will have 10k orphan miles in an account (each), and I want to be able to transfer them to my HH account. My kids generally fly free on FF miles, so changing them to Hilton points seems a much better use. Anyone done this???

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as luv2go. 10K each w/UA for 4 children and my wife that they'll never use for air travel.

20K hhonors is usable, but that times 5 in my account is 100K that I could find much better ways to use.

Four kids, check out the Embassy Suites. I only have 2, but when they travel with me, we look for the green E.
