Yes, I'm an FO...but just make me feel better :)

My options to ATL are for Wednesday in August travel:

SEA-ATL on a 767-300 on a U fare

PDX-ATL on a A320 on a K fare

LAX-ATL on a 757 on a K fare

LAX-ATL on a 767-300 on a T fare

Sadly, they are all elite-heavy routes and even on a Wednesday I don't think you have too much of a chance.

I'm not sure which is the top, but your last choice should be LAX-ATL on a 767 on a T fare. #3 is probably LAX-ATL on the 757 on a K fare. I'm torn between SEA-ATL and PDX-ATL, but I would probably go PDX.

I wouldn't bet on PDX. I am based in Portland, and the few upgrades I have missed this year (as a Diamond) have been on the PDX - ATL flight.

K-fare and then use 12,500 miles one-way to confirm into G/Z space.

You might want to consider an oddball connection like LAX-MCI-ATL.

I'm coming from YVR and the connection options within my allowed corporate price range are through those three airports.

I fly out of LAX, and do not think the Almighty could make you "feel good" about your upgrade chances. Others can help you with advice on the other cities. Also, to the person who posted above about taking the K plus 12,500 miles for an upgrade, when can you tack on the 12,500 miles for an upgrade? Are the rules requiring available inventory the same as for a TATL upgrade with a Y,B or M and AVAILABLE inventory in the upgrade class...?Z?. Thanks.

As a data point, as GM last year, I was 2/2 on UG LAX-ATL 2pm departure (757) on a T fare. 1 was on Monday and the other was mid week.

Last year was quite different than this year.

And this year, especially in the summer, the odds of an FO getting an UG on just about any fare from LAX-ATL are minimal. I think the odds of winning the California State Lottery would be higher.

LAX-TPA/MSY/MIA-ATL.....may be easier than MCI, as LAX-MCI is on the E-175.....

LAX-ATL.....please select your exit row seats while they are available and forget about FC, UG's are strictly for Plats & Diamonds to battle at the gate.....:D:D

On domestic flights, K, Q, and H fares are eligible for miles upgrades, assuming that there is G or Z inventory available. It's only the transoceanic (and I would assume South America) flights that are limited to Y-B-M.

Take whatever's the quickest trip in Y.

PDX with 16F is likely the WORST option.... especially if your flight will connect to international flights.

PDX-ATL on Friday... 3 MM's, 5 DM's, 8 PM's and something like 15 GM's on the plane... or so the announcement said...

PDX fare wasn't available tonight. Connecting through LAX on the 757 on the K fare...

Too bad you couldn't book YVR-LAX-MSY as LAX-MSY is a preferred NRSA flight.... since it's always open in F.

Yea, my car will be at BTR unfortunately...

Company won't pay for it...I got an exit row aisle on YVR-LAX and LAX-ATL so I'm fine. There isn't any G inventory for the K-fare UG on LAX-ATL right now, though.
