I need to take a small group (4-5) of people to Hollywood for business in mid-May. The company is watching expenses like a hawk, so I need to be reasonable in where I put them up.

Any suggestions? Do you think if I book all their rooms with my number (and pay for all of them) that I'll get all the points?

Thanks.

Mike

Personally I wouldn't be caught dead staying "in" HWood. Go a half hour away and stay somewhere nice and cheaper. Hollywood itself is a dump. Lots of trash and cheesy stores.

Nothing special for sure, but is the Clarion Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd, a possibility? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I've never stayed there and they always seem to be changing the name of this place! The location, overlooking the site of Mann's Chinese Theater and price are right! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

The only somewhat "nice" hotel in Hollywood is the Roosevelt at Hollywood/Orange, previously mentioned. There are also the Holiday Inn Express, Travelodge and Days Inn all clustered around Sunset/LaBrea. There is a small Holiday Inn and a Best Western on Highland, north of Hollywood Blvd.

In North Hollywood, there is the Universal Hilton and Towers next to Universal Studios (about $175 per night) and the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn. Both are a quick drive or short subway ride from Hollywood.

If you're specifically looking for Hilton properties, the Universal Hilton is the only one close to Hollywood. Beverly Hilton is further, but I've not heard good things about it. Most other Hilton properties, of all brands, are located near LAX, about 30-60 minutes from Hollywood depending on traffic.

There's the Hyatt (West) Hollywood, and also the Mondrian, both on Sunset.

OK. I've been to LA many times, but having never visited Hollywood, I find that I'm asking a misleading question. I am going to a meeting at William Morris (new role within my company), which I'm told is in Beverly Hills.

The question now is "where to stay in Beverly Hills." Proviso: I have four/five guests and need reasonable accommodations.

Thanks for all who have posted; please let me have your response to my updated question.

Well, now that you have clarified that you meant BH and not Hollywood--a world of difference--why don't you specify what you mean by "reasonable." Are we talking Radisson or Regent Beverly Wilshire?

There's another Hilton at the Burbank airport, about a 15 minute drive north of the one at Universal City. In Beverly Hills (Century City), there is a decent Marriott Courtyard ($129-$139) on Olympic Blvd.

Hilton Universal is very nice. It's located next door to Universal Studies so it's about a 15min drive North of Hollywood.

They upgraded me as a Gold and the Hotel gets used by the studio for filming a lot. There was some being filmed will I was there but I didn't recognize anyone, but I'm not a big tv or movie buff.

I've stayed at the Roosevelt. If you want to walk around the Chinese theater and see the walk of fame the location is great.
The hotel is rather old and has not been modernized so if you're expecting a Hilton/Marriott type of experience you'll probably be disappointed. They also take the Entertainment card 50% discount.

How about the Beverly Hilton.

Walking distance to your mtgs, A Hilton and if you are a AAA member (or they forget to ask for you ID) rates are very reasonable.

If you are a Hilton Elite member you could get a great upgrade (happens to me about 70%) at that hotel.

Sounds like the Universal Hilton is nice.
Stayed at the other hotel located nearby the
weekend before last. Will not even tell you
the name (sparing you). Just stayed this
past weekend at the Capital Hilton in DC
(winner) and had two rooms. It was very
interesting. When I arrived the front desk
only had one folio listed with a total rate
for both rooms. Hilton HH has not posted
points but I assume will receive points for
both rooms since only one rate. The key seems
to have been having both rooms noted on the
same locator record. Call Hilton and make the
reservations yourself.

The Beverly Hilton is OK, but it isn't walking distance to anywhere. Nobody walks in that area. There aren't even sidewalks.

I can't believe someone said the Hyatt West Hollywood sucks. It's a wonderful hotel in a very exciting district. I always get upgraded to a huge suite with a balcony overlooking Sunset Strip and I think each suite has a fishtank.

Just checked my Hilton HH account. Points
credited for both rooms billed as one rate
and on one folio.

Stimpy,
I was also shocked at the Hyatt West Hollywood comment made on this thread. It's simply the coolest Hyatt I've been too. Great fish tanks in the room, fantastic balcony views, and the best diamond amenity I have encountered yet. Maybe they haven't seen it since it was renovated.
