Chris [This message has been edited by mountain flyer (edited 04-24-2001).] stimpy Apr 24, 01, 11:46 am I stayed there last year and it was OK, but far from downtown. It's in a crummy neighborhood too so walking to restaurants isn't much of an option. I stayed at this hotel twice in the last few weeks at a Priceline rate of $42 (no bonus). Each time I showed my "new" Gold VIP card and got a room on the top sixth (top)floor. The last time I requested a room on the side with the view of the harbor and got it also - nothing like a sunrise over the Boston Harbor and spotting the planes taking off and landing at Logan. All points posted to my HH account with no trouble. I don't understand why people would complain that the hotel is far from downtown when you can walk to the T and you are only two stops from South Station and the heart of Boston's financial district. And, if people think that the neighborhood is "crummy," they should have seen it before they tore down some and the buildings, and placed gables on the remaining ones, and started marketing Columbia Point to the yuppees as a waterfront community. P.S. To get the Priceline rate just select South Boston only, *3, and bid $42. The lowest rates I saw on the Hilton website were between $109 and $139. Good luck! stimpy Apr 26, 01, 12:38 am Ooops. I think I was referring to the other Doubletree in Boston. |
