My father has offered to fly here, grab our kids and turn back around and fly home with them for 4 days of spoiling. How do I make this happen at our airport? Does he need to leave security and re-enter or can I get a gate pass? Any recommendations? Thanks!

You should be able to get a gate pass when you bring the kids to the airport. Since the kids aren't flying unaccompanied, they don't have to give you the gate pass, but most will. (I had an issue at JFK once where the gate agent refused a pass to the person dropping off my young niece.)

Sounds like a fun trip for the whole family that your father has arranged!
