Hilton HHonors - Chances of using a reward stay at an "unavailable" hotel?

I am a HHonors Diamond member and would like to use points to stay at the Hilton in Barcelona. I called a reservation agent, and they indicated that there are vacant rooms at the hotel for my desired dates (a couple of months from now), but not using HHonors rewards. Is there a chance that I can call the Diamond desk and get a room using a reward or am I out of luck?

I would call the diamond desk. I had the same problem with the Las Vegas Hilton about a year ago. Yvonne Moye from diamond desk said they would pay for it and then subtract the points. In addition, as diamond members, "we have no blackout dates" or so they say. However I could not get into the Paris Hilton end of june

edg1 -- I think you have a pretty good chance of getting your room by calling the Diamond Desk.
