Hilton HHonors - Question about points expiration
Sorry if the question is too simple. I saw the membership rule saying that all points will be expire if I do not earn a point within 12 months. I'm not sure how it works. Do I have to earn points from hotel stay in order to prevent the points to be confiscated? If I stay at a hilton in May 2000 and earn some points from another source in Feb 2001 and I didn't stay at any HH hotel until May 2001, will only my points from May2000 expire or everything? Thanks.

I believe someone posted a while ago that any transaction will keep the account "alive". However, a call to the HHonors service centre will confirm this, and if you are approaching a year without activity, I am sure they will keep your account "alive" in anticipation of a stay or two in the near future. This is a mechanism for pruning their mailing lists and liabilties for awards [which must be kept for accounting purposes as a liability to Hilton].

I believe I read at the website that HHonors will notify you when your account is about to expire in order to give you the opportunity to keep it "alive."
If you get the Hilton Amex, it shouldn't be a problem if you just remember to use it once in a while. There is no annual fee and you get 7500 points for first purchase.
