S.P.A.M. - Buy MasterCardGCs, on your fav CC, get $10 GC for VONs

They are paying you a $10 gc for groceries at VONS (must use in 14 days)
in exchange for you buying MC GCs ($100 or more).

Good for a free $50 worth of groceries - if you charge $500 dollars worth of a MC GC -

It'd take seperate transactions, so maybe the self serve lane is best for this. Please post if you have tried it.

I recall that Von's always required non credit transactions to buy GC's. Has that changed?

Did the ad say Mastercard GC's or just buy Gift cards and get a $10 coupon? SVU ran a gift card promo last month Visa/MC cards were excluded.

Not MB! worthy. Off to S.P.A.M. land.

Last week, Safeway ran a similar promotion with Visa. When I took a look at it, it cost you an additional $5.95 to buy the gift card. I have very little experience in buying Visa/MC gift cards but I was kind of surprised by the purchase fee.

You can only use cash or a debit card with pin to buy these gift cards. They as well as many (if not all) grocery stores do not allow visa/mastercard/amex gc to be bought with a cc.

I wish Kroger would offer this.

tested yesterday

1. used credit card to purchase - $100+$5.95 fees
got $100 gift card with $10 coupon

2. used $100 gift card + $5.95 credit card to purchase - $100+$5.95 fees
got $100 gift card with $10 coupon

3. use $100 gift card + $5.95 credit card to purchase - $100+$5.95
denied by the cashier, need to pay by cash or ATM

conclusion: depends on individual cashier and $8.10 profits (7% return)

When you say denied by the cashier did they say why? I used an AMEX GC to purchase a mastercard GC. Then used the MC GC to purchase another MC GC (paying for the fee with an AMEX GC).

You could always add some groceries with your purchase. Or a cheap card to go with the "gift card".
