Singapore - Looking for long stay hotel rate in SIN

I'm relocating to Singapore next week and may be in a hotel up to 2 months while looking for an apartment. I've dropped a note to my Starwood Ambassador and Hyatt PLA asking for some assistance with long stay rates at their properties. My budget is about SGD 250++ / night. I don't have status with Intercon but would take out a Royal Ambassador membership if I could get a good rate with them but I have no contacts. Any other ideas? After searching for "long stay" "extended stay" I haven't really found anything relavent.

Get a serviced apartment instead? Taxes are far lower on this compared to a hotel (7% vs 17% I think).
Check out Lanson Place on Orchard Road...
Just to add, at Lanson Place you get a washer/dryer in the apartment, plus of course you have a full kitchen. All helps to keep down the cost of the extras. What really impressed me was the high standard of all the fittings.
Pan Pacific also have some serviced apartments in Singapore, as do Ascott - that used to be on Scotts Road but they moved to the financial district, now very close to Lau Pau Sat IIRC.

Also check out Fraser in Singapore. They are a Singapore company and have four properties in a few places in Sing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was specifically looking for hotel accommodations and not serviced apartments. I've settled on the Sheraton thanks to my Ambassador. I guess my next order of business is actually to figure out laundry.

Just out of interest can I ask why? (OK, this is FT so it's probably a points thing...)
Seriously though, I was so impressed with Lanson Place - it's like a really exclusive hotel as you still have reception & business services etc, oh and the internet is included too - will be making my 3rd visit next month. You don't have a bustling lobby but the staff know and greet you by name, etc.
I stayed in the Sheraton years back and it was very nice but for me, the thought of living in 1 room for 2 months (and having to schlep my laundry out every few days) wouldn't be worth the points!

As I'm in the same situation, I'm following this thread with high interest
What's the quality of the Sheraton in SIN? I've heard different stories
How many points do you collect?

If you can get the Intercontinental at a good rate I would go with that. I have been to thousands of hotels and this one was just amazing. Great location and great service and the staff and rooms are really great. I spent about a year at this hotel and if I ever go back to singapore I would stay here. The Sheraton is an average hotel.

I lived in Lanson. I can recommend it.

If you choose a Fraser on River Valley, let me know. I live across the street.

I lived @ Lanson Place for about 6 months. Fantastic place with great staff and a really nice rooftop pool/BBQ area.

My only experience with serviced apartments is the Mantra/ex-Pacific International chain in Australia over several cities and properties. I don't like it much. I prefer a full service property.
But you are right, it is also largely a points thing. I'll earn enough points in this stay for weeks worth of leisure accommodations or some 75K airline miles. The extended stay in a chain property will convert into goodwill from the chain for future stays at different properties.
Had I been a Royal Ambassador I should have taken the Intercon. Better physical plant, amazing location and it'd have enhanced my IHG status and likely I'd have had a way to see the two NFL game I wanted to see which was available on ASN. The Sheraton's TV options are really horrid. At least at the WGS they have enhanced options at the Zest Bar and would have shown the game there in the morning.
The Sheraton has been really great to me and I couldn't imagine such a long stay in a regular room (hence the need for Royal Ambassador to consider the Intercon). I came to the Sheraton not knowing if I'd be upgraded but I've been in a suite the entire time. They probably could have gone a bit far seeing how long I'm here. Maybe a bottle of wine here or there. A free meal here in the restaurant here and there. Maybe a free massage treatment. But there aren't complaints as much as just thinking of how the Sheraton could step up their game and make people want to stay here rather than feel resigned to staying here.

Lanson has a crazy number of TV channels in the rooms. Two different set top boxes, one for a bunch of sports channels and the other for the Star network. :p

Generally I got the Sheraton for around SGD 250++ and I could have gotten the Intercon for SGD 220++. I went about things wrong and maybe could have gotten a better price.
I will have upcoming stay in March for 2-3 weeks. Is there anyway that I could get a good rate at the Sheraton? on spg it is about $262 USD/night.
