As a PLT/AMB, just spent the past two weekends in Shanghai at this HIX Zhabei, near the (north) Shanghai Train Station. UPG'd to a jr suite both times. Rooms were in great condition as this location appears fairly new, but I always wonder about the "do not drink the tap water" signs at the sink, though 2 bottled waters were in the room, though the maid forgot to replace them the second day. Not the best location, but convenient to transportation, obviously, with not only the railroad, but also metro lines 1, 3 and 4 nearby. In fact, did the Metro to PVG 3 times, RMB7 each way. Not as much fun at the Maglev and takes about 2 hrs including the walk to and from the Metro stations. Short walk to the south side of the train station, where the HI Shanghai and IC Puxi are located. Just not much to do in this area. Breakfast was good, an egg dish and numerous vege dishs, with either rice or noodles, watermelon and salad. Of course, I wouldn't have considered this location, except for the $75 for a 2 nt stay promo, making my net out-of-pocket about US$4 per stay, AAA rate.
