I'm flying through Delhi on my way from Kathmandu to Imphal and I thought rather than spend an ungodly amount of time in the airport, I'd stay over and spend a day sightseeing. Not planning on making a rush to Agra, will leave that for another trip.

I'm arriving on 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26th and leaving on Thursday, July 28th at 5:40 am...

Any suggestions for hotels?

I really do want to have a room for the 2nd night even though I have to leave so early to catch my flight. Maybe I should stay near the airport? If so, for both nights or move?

Price range is anywhere up to about $300 USD max/night, though I wouldn't mind paying a bit less, of course.

Thanks!

at this time of the year in delhi $300 is a great budget to have....most 5 star hotels will be in the $200 or under range....

are you looking for any particular brand????

Well, I don't MIND spending $200 or less. ;)

I'm a member of most of the international hotel chain's programs, but don't have status in any of them. I am Ambassador with IHG. I'm probably closest to status with Hilton otherwise.

A friend recommended the ITC Maurya, though I only have about 3 SPG nights so far this year.

I like really great views (e.g., Intercontinental Hong Kong) or history (e.g., Raffles Singapore). Of course, both of these were north of $300/night :p

I'm more interested in location, etc. than a particular brand.

check out the following thread....it has some good suggestions....

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/india/1098198-best-hotel-delhi.html

my personal favourites in delhi, in no particular order, would be the taj mahal, aman, itc maurya & imperial....

if you are not looking to spend too much then hilton has a bunch of reasonably priced options like the hgi saket, eros nehru place & doubletree mayur vihar....
