Iberia Airlines Iberia Plus - What is the baggage allowance on IB from the US?

I looked on their site, and I can’t seem to understand what they are saying, so I figured someone here will know.

I think I got the dimension for carry one. It can’t be over 21inches?

Thanks

Then either:
Free baggage allowance:

Or:

yeki89 you are very rude.

Posting links helps other people who may have similar questions.

Also, it is not at all clear what the OP is asking, if their question is about hold baggage - I have no way of know what bit of it they don't understand. If the pages I've given links for are confusing to them (don't see how - they are very clear) they can ask for clarifications of specific bits.

Or, is their question limited to carry on baggage? If so, I've given them the full guide. Also they are asking in inches and Iberia give their requirments in metric measurments. If conversion is a problem for them they can ask specifically about that. Or, if they still don't understand they can ask specific questions referencing the links.

As I said, I think giving links is helpfull (not just for the OP but also for others reading the threads, now and in the future - when things may have changed). It helps encourage a culture of looking things up, rather than demanding to be spoon fed answer - plenty of people here will help each other with problems (e.g. if there is something the OP doesn't understand, even after the links, they can ask for clarity about the specific bit), but people are not going to just to reasearch for others - that damages FT.
As I said, I think your post yeki89 is very rude.

David-A very helpfully provided the links to IB's site showing their exact policies. I completely agree with him that it's always preferable to see for yourself exactly what the airline policy is - versus someone else's second hand translation. So thanks again to David-A for helping to make this new forum contain all the needed resources. :)

Assuming your interest is regarding only carry-on rules, you can see on the link above that IB's site shows us that the requirements for "Hand Luggage" are:

Hand luggage size: 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.
Hand luggage weight: 8kgs

And I'm also assuming you're like me, a "metrically-challenged" American. ;)

I use this conversion site for centimeters to inches:
http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/centimeters-to-inches.htm

And this for kgs to lbs:
http://www.metric-conversions.org/weight/kilograms-to-pounds.htm

So that translates to:

Carry-on size: 21.65in x 15.75in x 7.87in
Carry-on weight: 17.64lbs

Let us know if you have additional questions.

And regarding how IB enforces these stipulations I found these threads very helpful:

Iberia have to be the most relaxed airline I have come across for enforcing the cabin baggage policy.

I regularly fly Iberia (8-16 times per month) and only ever carry a standard samsonite that abides by the usual size rules, however, I have regularly seen the following carried on board for european legs and some other over-sized items:

1) A coat that takes up half a luggage rack, plus a trolley back with huge castors which prevent it going in the overhead rack length-ways, plus a huge laptop bag ontop of that, plus duty free shopping, and required help from cabin crew to lift the weighty thing into the overhead rack.

2) A backpack which physically would not fit into the overhead rack and got stuffed down the back of the aircraft near the galley

3) A set of bicycle wheels, plus usual handluggage of massive coat and two bags

4) A guitar

Obviously this causes all matter of chaos boarding the aircraft which is why Iberia start boarding 45mins before take-off, the record longest I have timed is 43mins from me walking onto an A321 at LHR to the closing of the aircraft door for pushback.

If you have a normal-sized wheelie bag and a handbag/laptop then you will have no problem. I have never ever seen them weighed.

I looked at that link, and I was somewhat thrown off when it said the checked bag should be 158cm.Yea, I figured it out it was the total dimension. 55cm works out to 21.6 inches, and the carry on I have is 22. Will that be a problem?

Just wanted to make sure you're aware IB's site is also in English - no "figuring" required:

"Size (standard) : the total length+width+height of each item must not exceed 158 cm, including strap, pocket and wheels (expect for certain special baggage)"

Regarding your 22in carryon - based on globalste's experiences and those of the FTers who reported in the threads I linked above, it would seem that you'll be fine. (However, I plan on traveling with a carryon that's within 21.65 x 14 x 7.87 so I'll meet both IB's and AA's regulations - but that's because I'm no gambler!)

No worries in my experience with a 22" rollaboard on A320 family aircraft or A340s. My Travelpro has never been denied (and I am "assuming" it weighs "significantly" more than the mandated 8 kg / 17.6 lbs ;)).

Didn't want to risk it and got this one.
