Hilton HHonors - Noisy hotel due to construction

I stayed in a the South Holland Hilton Garden Inn in Illinois this Saturday and I couldn't sleep well because there were people drilling close to my window very early in the morning on Sunday. I was planning to sleep until late that morning. At the beginning, I thought that it was something in my bedroom. The second time I checked I saw a couple of drilling machines. One of them too close to my window. I called reception twice. The first time they said that they were going to send somebody to check the noise. Then when I realized that it was outside the hotel building, I called again and they said that they couldn't do anything because it was an outside company doing the drilling noise. The reality is that it was too close to the window to be an outside source. How can Hilton allow that? Many of the people who stay in a hotel during the weekend are there on vacation or for a weekend escape to relax.Construction should not begin so early beside a hotel to disturb the guests that are paying to have a nice quiet time there on a weekend. I told this to the receptionist when I went to eat breakfast. I didn't like her attitude. They knew about the problem and they didn't do anything. They could have given me another room on the opposite of the construction site when I checked in the day before.I asked the cleaning lady for the card where you rate the stay because I didn't see one in my bedroom and she said that only the supervisors have those now. Is this standard policy now Adam?

Hmm, sounds like you have encountered a "staff" problem, there.
I checked into the Hilton in Lisle, IL about midnight last night, and while they just had one lady handling the front desk (and she was very busy, even at that late hour), I got, among other things in my room key(tag) folder, a comment card. BTW, there is an 800 number on it, titled "UniFocus 800/352-9740."
You might want to try it to express your displeasure with that property making up the rules as they go.

Thanks for the information hnechets. I don't know if you got the card because it was a Hilton and not a Hilton Garden Inn. I stayed at the Garden Inn in Hoffman Estates the next day and I noticed that they didn't have the card either. That's why I asked Adam in my previous post if this a rule (policy) with the Garden Inns now.
If you read this Adam, can you please inform me? I also wanted to know if there were other FT who stayed at the South Holland Hilton Garden Inn during the construction time.

Good question, Viajera. As it happens, I'll be staying at a Hilton Garden Inn in St. Charles, IL tomorrow. (I'm hopping around to be sure I get my 4 stays in 90 days in for the big bonus points).
I'll make a post tomorrow on whether I get a guest comment card there.
I hope Adam Burke can help you out. He's done some great things for other FT'ers.

Thanks hnechets. I'll wait for your post because I'm sure that I'll stay in St. Charles in the future.
It seems Customer Service is not Hilton's strength. I had 2 less than acceptable stays, and trying to resolve these with Hilton Corporate has been a exercise in frustration. It doesn't really take much to be courteous and responsive. But my experience from that perspective with Hilton have not been good.

You're more than welcome, Viajera.
I have just checked into the Hilton Garden Inn in St. Charles and I did not get a comment card in my folder, but there WAS one propped up on the pillow of my bed along with a "Welcome Home" card with my room attendant's name. The comment card is identical to the one I got at the Hilton in Lisle, IL.
This is a nice property. Mini-fridge and a microwave, deluxe tub. Two line phone so I don't tie up the line while on line, Hilton desk, king bed and a chair w/ottoman and a side table. New large color TV. Restaurant on the premesis and a mini-convenience store by the front desk. They also have a pool, spa, and some other stuff, but I haven't checked those out.
The property looks and feels...even SMELLS new. Clean and tidy, no problem parking. Check in took maybe 2 minutes. AND, they gave me a coupon worth $5 off a purchase in the restaurant or the convenience center (they call it The Pavilion Pantry.)
There're also lots of restaurants near the hotel...On The Border, Olive Garden, Chili's, etc. And what looks like a nice large shopping mall a few blocks away.
I know this got a little long winded, but since you said you might be staying here, I decided to risk posting a mini-trip report.
Hope it helps!

I hope that you can solve your problems GYK. I haven't received any response from Hilton yet.
Thank you for your report, Harry. Based on it, I will definitely stay in St. Charles in the future. You also answered my original question. Now I know that not all the Hilton hotels provide comment cards. Some of them put them in different places but other Hilton Garden Inns do not provide them. I'll grab extra ones when I see them. Have a nice stay in Illinois!
