Hilton HHonors - What is up with the writing desks & phone lines in most Hiltons?

Last night I stayed at the Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport and I had to drag the phone half way across the room just so I could have a line at the writing desk. This has happened to me on more then one occasion too. I think I need to start asking for a room set up for business needs along with my standard “Do you have my airline FF#?”

One caveat, last week I stayed at the Hilton next to Universal Studios and it was the best Hilton I have ever stayed at. Huge corner room (I could see one of the Universal shows from the writing desk. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif, in room fax/printer, lots of space, large couch & coffee table. I will definitely stay there on my future trips to LAX.

I am at the Hiltion Universal Studios right now, huge suite with two rooms, 5 lines, 2 in each room plus fax. This is a great property and I will deffinately stay here again. Paying for local calls is not nice, but I stay on line all day to compensate.

I've posted before that I have stayed at the Orange Co Airport Hilton and NEVER will again - the "high speed access" was inoperative, the - well, the total experience was just dreadful - I checked out and had to fight w/ them not to charge me a cancellation fee. After explaining that I would gladly spend the afternoon at their front valet explaining to everyone who got out of their car that they should get back in it and leave, they let me check out http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
