Ages ago. More recently, you'd still come out ahead buying stuff in HK. But now, Amazon has more or less become my one-stop shop for all electronics. Their prices are better than the grey market goods you'd get in sketchy HK malls with a full USA warranty to boot.

And with Amazon Prime you get free second day shipping and no sales tax in most of the country.

Note that the cheaper prices usually come with a JDM only warranty. With the weak dollar, you are probably off better buying in the US

In my experience, the discounters in New York are generally the cheapest places in the world to buy Japanese camera gear - particularly if you can have it mailed to a U.S. address where you don't have to pay sales tax.

How weird. The S95 was $300 when it came out a year ago and now it's $400? It certainly won't be cheaper in Japan. I bought mine the day before it came out here for over $500.

I've never seen the S95 sell for $300 -- its MSRP has always been $399. Even now, it still sells for over $400 at many retailers. Amazon historical pricing:
