If I gift her silver as a PM, what are your thoughts on our chances for an upgrade on either flight? We will be flying Friday morning there and Friday night/Saturday morning back. Also, if I gift it to her, will it be good through Feb 2013? 3Cforme Jul 7, 11, 4:18 pm Medallions upgrades aren't granted on Hawaii routes, making the chance on LAX-LIH just about nil. (Operational upgrades do happen.) Platinums complain about not getting upgrades on JFK-LAX. As a Silver (and surely if fare class is deeply discounted L/U/T/E) her chances approach zero. WScottsdaleInsider Jul 7, 11, 4:18 pm If it is a 2012 Choice Benefit then it would be good till March 2013. Delta doesn't allow upgrades to Hawaii so LAX-LIH for you or her would not be eligible. JFK-LAX is a hard upgrade for Platinums let alone Silvers. Too many things could happen, up to and including the day of your flight. I don't know how long the gift is good for. Another question for those here that might help the OP...is there Economy Comfort on the flight from LAX-LIH, and as a PM, could the OP save the "status gift" and have the OP and the SO sit together in EC? newtraveler123 Jul 7, 11, 4:26 pm If you decide not to gift her status you can request a complimentary companion upgrade for her.
