ORD-HKG is a looooong flight but at that price, I'd tolerate being in Y. Even if your back doesn't agree with the new Y seats, the savings will more than pay for a massage and a night at the MO or Peninsula!

There is no mention that you have to be the 'first' 100. You simply have to enter in the ~2.5 hr period and they will draw 100 entries out it.

Ah, in that case, scripters may have an advantage as you can populate fields based on keywords automatically. Not sure if its going to be flash based or something which would make scripting harder.

I am not qualified to give tax advice, yet my guess is either $584 or zero. The winner is responsible for taxes and fees so only base fare is included in FMV. IRS doesn't use ARV as promoted by sponsors.@:-) OTOH, perhaps CX uses $100 fare to avoid sending out 1099-MISC? :confused: Technically, you are not getting anything for free; you receive a special discount.

If all you have to do is click a link at 3:25, then this would be incredibly easy to write a script for. If you aren't using a script, I wouldn't bother trying as there has to be hundreds of people using scripts.

Though I did not understand the use of the VMs... I mean if you have a direct T1 connection going out with the scripts running and pinging every 50 msec or so - why did you need VMs? Unless you wanted different VMs to be pinging simultaneously... do not want to turn this into a technology discussion but I am curious... can I PM you for more info?

I would not call you a "cheat," and I would certainly do EXACTLY what you did if I had the same technology skills.
That said, it is obviously unfair to run a contest where certain people can essentially "stack the deck" and win. I know I wouldn't run such a contest.
But for now, the only thing "normal" frequent flyers can do (if they aren't willing/able to take programming classes) is to ignore this contest since they obviously have no real chance at winning a ticket.
I would not call you a "cheat," and I would certainly do EXACTLY what you did if I had the same technology skills.

My friend did a little check for me - CX's server is located in San Francisco. And my computer is connected in San Francisco.
My computer is government issued and connected to a government network.
The internet service provider, AFAIK, is Verizon.
I did not use any other technology mean to score this.
Taxes & Fuel charges comes out to be $240
So $340 Round Trip to Hongkong is not a bad deal afterall
