ORD-HKG is a looooong flight but at that price, I'd tolerate being in Y. Even if your back doesn't agree with the new Y seats, the savings will more than pay for a massage and a night at the MO or Peninsula! johndeere19 Jul 7, 11, 10:00 am For the grand prize: http://www.cathaypacificusa.com/100TicketsFor100Dollars/pdf/100_terms.pdf ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: Two (2) round trip Economy Class air transportation tickets from Chicago to Hong Kong. Ah, in that case, scripters may have an advantage as you can populate fields based on keywords automatically. Not sure if its going to be flash based or something which would make scripting harder. TerryK Jul 7, 11, 10:32 am .... So how much would a US resident have to show on their Fed Income taxes? $684 or $1031 or $2900? I am not qualified to give tax advice, yet my guess is either $584 or zero. The winner is responsible for taxes and fees so only base fare is included in FMV. IRS doesn't use ARV as promoted by sponsors.@:-) OTOH, perhaps CX uses $100 fare to avoid sending out 1099-MISC? Technically, you are not getting anything for free; you receive a special discount. pssteve Jul 7, 11, 10:40 am I wonder if the reason for the $100 cost is to get net "prize" value below $600 which I think is the reporting threshold? garykung Jul 7, 11, 10:44 am Based on my estimate: 1. The cost of this ticket (If you get it) is $446.46 ai. 2. It should be issued in Full Y (as if they use $2900 retail value). But no one knows about mileage accrual. For real - should we even discuss it here? It is definitely not a MR. thepointsguy Jul 7, 11, 11:08 am Please note taxes... CHICAGO (5 July 2011) – Chicagoans will soon have a new airline – Cathay Pacific – and a new lucky number – 100. Hong Kong’s home carrier, which begins service from Chicago to Hong Kong on Sept. 1, 2011, is offering 100 tickets for US$100 each in a special offer that begins this Thursday. On July 7, 2011, and for the following three Thursdays in July, Cathay Pacific will offer 25 roundtrip tickets to Hong Kong for travel this fall for just US$100 each, inclusive of taxes, fees and surcharges. For a chance at the tickets, Chicagoans need to be on the special offer page of Cathay Pacific’s Web site at exactly 3:25 p.m. CT, the departure time for the airline’s upcoming flight. The first 25 people to click the “PURCHASE NOW” button at the appointed time will get a roundtrip ticket to Hong Kong from Chicago for just US$100. oneLnot2 Jul 7, 11, 11:43 am You say Chicagoans, but is this offer good for any other US resident? johndeere19 Jul 7, 11, 12:10 pm FYI per the press release I got, taxes are included and my contact also said that Asia Miles can be accrued, but not any other Oneworld carrier (do not know the fare class).
