Looks like oneworld Sapphire and Emeralds can select exit row seats FoC.

Well, I just flew with Iberia on 4 flights this week and didn't experience this. I could book an exit row without issue. It was a return journey - July 4 to 7th. I reserved my exit row seats online for the outward journey without issue. The return journey had a leg operated by Vueling which means you can't do online checkin (because Iberia's website is such crap!), but I phoned up and got exit row seats without a problem...

I have an Iberia Silver card (about 2 flights away from Gold)... so maybe that was the reason?

I think these are simply exit-row seats. Nothing special except for some extra legroom (and no reclining in some rows).

If it is on the Iberia "sister" airline Vueling aircraft, it is worth the extra money. "Regular" seats aboard Vueling aircraft offer extremely limited legroom. I am 6'5" and have been able to at least wiggle my legs under the seat. On this aircraft on a flight from Venice to Barcelona, I had to be moved to exit because I couldn't get my legs into the seat.

Yes, these are merely the exit row seats, so if there are two rows, beware the first exit row as there will be impaired recline (though A340s only have one exit row per area). Being 6'4" / 193 cm I am choosy about seats and need legroom.

A340-600 row 22 on the A340-600 is your best bet; row 10 is near galleys, and 10A and L are across from FA seats; row 35 is in the lav block, lots of traffic and people trying to usurp your space, 35 A and L have intrusions from the exit hatch.

A340-300 row 22 is the exit row, but also close to lavs.

A319 row 10 is the "XL" seating.

A320 avoid row 10 like the plague, as it has no recline iirc; row 11 has limited recline, row 12 is the one to choose for "XL" seating,

A321 rows 9 and 21 are the ones to select, along with 22A, which has no 21A in front of it.

I think the A319 you need to pick row 10.

Yes, now as a BAEC member try booking an XL seat (despite it saying the service is available and for up to 3 months in advance) because it is nigh on impossible.
