Middle East - Current Bahrain political situation?

What's the current situation like in Manama? I'm thinking of making a weekend trip next month, and was wondering if all the protests have died down yet. Thanks in advance!

In was there a few weeks back just after the state of emergency had ended. Perfectly normal in the centre of the city, but it was like that during the troubles too. Of course, anything can happen but I wouldn't be too worried.

You should be able to get good hotel rates if you're not burning points. Call and negotiate.

btw, Pearl Square, which was just a large roundabout (circle), has been rebuilt as an intersection.

Things have been better than several months ago, but as with all things of this nature, the situation can change very fast.

You are thinking of visiting next month as in August? It will be hot, humid and Ramadan.

I completely forgot about Ramadan! Looks like I'll have to push the trip back (I don't mind hot and humid - I was in Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago).

I was there two weeks ago, hardly noticed anything different in the places expats frequent. Ramadan there is not as restrictive as Saudi Arabia, but not as open as the UAE. Yes, it'll be hot and humid.
