Hilton HHonors - HHilton Upgrade & 50% Certs(from AMEX)??

Hello to all FTers from a long-time reader but only a recent poster.

QUESTION
I wondering if anyone has received any new HHonors certificates for a confirmable room upgrade and 50% off on a 3-night stay. I remember receiving them in a letter to Hilton AMEX holders possibly late Fall of 1999. They were great to have as I used each several times as I never had a Hilton collect them.

P.S. Thanks to all the folks who have made me a better informed business and leisure traveler the past 18 months.

Va.SquireFlyer -- Welcome to the Board! Apparently, DOC 2 BE is hinting towards his own post on the subject (see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/001048.html ).

And DOC 2 BE -- be nice!

Hey, my post was only 1 day old!!!!!

But I must say, that your post answers my main query -- it appears that this perk has gone the way of the dodo.

Welcome to the board fellow Virginian. Don't let these folks scare you off. Their bark is usually worse than their bite. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

If you review all the posts that I have authored, you will note that I unfailingly thank all those who assist me, for I like to conduct my affairs with courtesy.

However, although this attorney has exchanged his law books and briefcase for a stethoscope and the DSM IV, one should not be under any false impressions, especially those from the Old Dominion who counsel others about the way they should react to my posts and yet are truly ignorant of me -- do not mischaracterize my conduct or demeanor --otherwise, you will see that this canine truly does bite.

I guess you feel that this is a necessity, ever since Donny and Marie's latest talk show was canceled due to poor ratings, and unwholesome programming was left on the air. I suggest you switch channels if you don't like the programming.

Why, thank you.

If you were to read one of the latest Starwood threads about the Sheraton Suites near NYC, you would, perhaps, be able to comprehend how quite accommodating and helpful we can be to others not from this area.

Hello Fters,

Thanks for the information on my post. It looks like another HHonors perk has "bitten the dust", these were nice pieces to have especially when the desk clerk's reply to a polite question of "is there any possibility of getting an upgraded room" was that room upgrades were $30-$60 (depending on the property) per night. I would then say that I would like to use my Hilton room upgrade certificate (always got the upgrade and the cert. was never collected. C'est la vie!

P. S. I finally realized why I had not seen DOC 2 BE's post on Wed., Jan. 19th. I had searched the FT Hilton and AMEX boards on the morning of Tues., Jan. 18th (all search results seemed to be approx. 12 or more months old on this topic). I got around to sending in my query on Wed., Jan 18th without having reviewed the day's Hilton posts. Thanks again to all for the responses.

Dear VaSquireFlyer,

I guess as a consolation prize to us, AMEX upped the value of the point earning capability to 3/5 points, depending on the vendor/merchant, as well as making us Platinum cardholders. I do not know of any really big changes re Platinum status, except a year end tally, but the points are certainly appreciated!!! Though, it would have been nice to have had those other certificates, as welll!!!

I last used my upgrade CERT when I was in London, but that became superfluous, now that I am Gold. Hence, my query about the fate of the 50% off certificate.

Anyway, enjoy your trip and remember to upgrade yourself to Gold via the info posted on the HHilton board before 2/28/01,if you have not already done so.

Regards,

D2B
