We're planning on a 3 day weekend in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area.
I'm looking for a resort/relaxing Hilton property?
Which Hilton is the best of the group? I know they have several properties in town.
Thanks, Dan

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs gets my [local] vote. Nice suites, great pool, decent spa services and overall friendly attitude.
The Scottsdale Hilton (round the corner from my house) isn't much of a 'resort' tho the bar by the pool is fun ( http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif) and the restaurant (Fleming's -- owned by Paul Fleming, the creator of PF Chang's) is truly worth the trip!
Hope this helps -- holler if you need any local pointers...
I agree with Onefreeman althought the Doubletree isn't bad.
South Mountain is o.k. as well.
The Pointe Tapatio is more central location. The Doubletree and Hilton Scottsdale is more "resortish"
Weather has been fine!!! (70s)

Minx -- the Pointe at South Mountain has not been a Hilton property for several months...

What is the Doubletree La Posada in Scottsdale like?
onefreeman -
My bad on the South Mountain Pointe. I didn't even realize it wasn't a Hilton anymore.
My vote is with Freeman. Tapacio Cliffs is a nice respite, and close enough to Scottsdale and "downtown" Phoenix.

Tapatio underwent a major renovation this year and with it's many pools and offerings is a very appealing property. Friday and Saturday nights are especially fun at the big pool with live bands and lots of adult fun.
If you are at the Diamond level in the HHonors, they do go to great lengths to take care of you with upgrades and free breakfasts.
I have enjoyed my many visits to the Tapatio property and would endors the golf course as a fairly challenging offering.
Enjoy!

I would also like to hear the reponses to Sea Biscuit's question on the Doubletree La Posada. I have resvs there but is the Pointe Tapiato worth 10,000 more HHonors points and $100 more (I am combining an award and 1 night stay) Thanks!
I've driven by it (the doubletree) and it looked quite nice - does that count http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My last stay at Squaw Peak was relaxing. Used a point strecher and they put us in a Casita. Not Bad.

Tatatio was nice. I spent xmas-new years week there.
I got a nice ammenity from the GM, the remains of which were left to rot for 4 days.
I had to beg for a linen change on my 5th day.
The housekeeping department left maids carts and soiled linen outside in front of guest rooms until very late at night (10:00)
They have a resort fee which charges you for what you mostly get for free as an HHonors Elite. (removed at my request)
The don't allow Golds access to their executive lounge (they were surprised my name was on the list) unless you pay an upgrade charge per day.

On Doubletree's La Posada (formerly Red Lion):
I've never stayed here, but visited my parents while they were staying here a couple of years ago. Wonderful pool, quite large with a waterfall. Restaurant had a great Sunday brunch with "champagne" and a piano player. Also had the requisite ice sculpture, omelet station, waffle station, etc. The rooms were nice, probably not as nice as the Pointe. The location is great-- proximate to the 51 freeway, Biltmore/Camelback corridor, and Scottsdale. The Pointe is nice, but probably not worth the extra points/dollars.
And also the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort (formerly Wyndham):
The Paradise Valley Resort also has a great pool area. The rooms are very nice, but nothing spectacular. Again, the Pointe rooms are bigger and probably better. The Restaurant, "En Fuego," is OK. The location is good, quite proximate to a number of good local restaurants and also to corporate restaurants (such as Roy's, Ruth's Chris, Fleming's Prime, etc.). This resort isn't a bad choice, probably better than the Scottsdale Hilton (though not if you are a Diamond and can get an upgrade to a villa) and on par with the other Doubletree.
