LAS' Terminal 3 is set to open next year. Today, it was announced which airlines will relocate to T3: http://www.lvrj.com/business/shake-up-expected-with-new-terminal-at-mccarran-124764194.html
Hawaiian will move from existing T2 to the D Gates. However, baggage and ticketing will be handled at T3. For those who don't know, T3 is connected to the D Gates via an underground train. D is also connected via underground train to T1. While I would have preferred for HA to be entirely at T3, this move is a good one. T2 is old and worn down. At least the main advantage of T2 for HA...close and easy access to check-in/baggage from curbside will transfer to T3 as the new terminal also has self-contained curbside access and check-in/baggage facilities bypassing the chaos of T1.
Also of note, in addition to HA, the reshuffling includes:
-Moving US to D Gates.
-Moving AS, B6, F9, Virgin America and Sun Country to T3 and T3 domestic gates.
-Moving CO/UA ticketing and baggage to T3 like HA.
-Moving all international flights to T3 and T3 international gates.
-Moving AirTran to Councourse B & C to join WN.
I think the reason for HA to be put at D Gates also is that the T3 domestic gates may only be spaced for narrowbody aircraft only, hence why AS, B6, F9 and the others will be at the T3 gates since they fly only narrowbodies.
Next year is going to be exciting at LAS!
