I'm just curious because had two friends flying, after talking with both of them the one turned out to receive a phone call yesterday that his today flight is cancelled because of operating conditions. The other guy was not so fortunate and had to find it out today at 5:30 at the BTS airport, which sucks. I was looking around a bit and didn't find, neither them find any useful information.

Thing is I'm flying Friday morning the same route for important meeting, I believe the economy premium (which I bought to get biz upgrade) won't help at all. I'm thinking about to book another flight for friday from VIE - BRU or VIE - AMS/CDG - BRU just to be on the safe side. Meeting can't be moved, guy is flying out of Europe in the Friday afternoon.

Hows the weather there?

In any case, your friends should apply for compensation. A cancelled flight with such short notice warrants quite a sum.

I talked with the crew from this week BTS - BRU segment, seems the wednesday flight is not getting much passenger attention, the flight was cancelled because only 10 people booked it. So the crew advised me to use either the Monday or Friday flights rather.
