Hi All -

I just came back from a business trip staying at a Best Western in Denmark from 6/13 through 6/22 (hotel bill was about 1,800USD). I have to apply for the stay credit as the receptionist couldn't enter my BW Rewards at the time...

So, would it be better to get the BW rewards points or apply it to Delta miles? I ask because we are trying to accumulate miles on British Air/Delta for our honeymoon next year to Africa.

Thanks - appreciate all of the help!

Definitely BW points if it was one stay. You earn the same (small) amount of Delta miles on stay whether it's a cheap one-night stay or an expensive multi-night stay. But the more expensive your stay, the more BW points you earn.

So you'd earn at least 18000 BW points (maybe more if you're AAA BW or if you have any status* with BW). That can be worth $100ish, even $200ish, in free night value.

But with Delta (or any other airline), you'll earn just a flat 250 miles for the whole stay, which is probably worth no more than maybe $10 or just possibly $15 (when used towards a flight to Africa).

*If you don't have status with BW yet, but do have status with another hotel chain, first ask if you can status match, and then ask for the stay credit. If you get the status match, you'll then earn even more points (but status won't make you earn more miles).
