Hilton HHonors - Went to check out and was never checked in

I just returned from my first free HHonors stay in which I used no points. (It was a paid stay)

I was travelling with my business assoicate and stayed at a Hampton Inn. The clerk had a great deal of difficulty getting both rooms assigned and appeared to be very confused.

When we checked out I was told that I was not registered as a guest. I handed the clerk my key and offered to pay for the room and showed him my printed confirmation. He looked at me and said Merry Christmas.

While pleased with the free room I would have rather paid for it. (the rate was really cheap) Now im out 1 stay on the Gold challenge and the associated 5K points that went with it.

I've had that happen with rental cars (would have been really scary if I had been in an accident), but never with hotel rooms.

Nice Gesture. But, I wonder if HHonors will do like UA (when your flight gets cancelled you still get the mileage for it).

Considering the way HH is dishing out Gold upgrades to many people for just calling in to register for the Fast Track challenge, I'd give 'em a call. I'd say you have more right to the upgrade than some, including myself.
