Hilton HHonors - Do I get credit for reward stays?

If I am staying in a Hilton property on a reward voucher do I still get the credit toward elite status?

I think not. You may want to reserve an extra night and pay for it. What I have done is, for example, book one paid night and a three night free stay behind it. You'll get credit for a stay, points and a better chance for an upgrade if you have status with HHonors (in my opinion) if you are checking into a paid room.

I've used points for free stays twice (one Hilton, one Hampton) and I got points/miles for both of them. I didn't ask for them...they were credited just like a normal stay.

C.S. told me yesterday that if you charge something to your room it counts as a stay. They have to have some sort of "billing" to forward. He said it was common for guests to have breakfast/drinks for this reason.

I haven't done it but if it's true that's another good deal by Hilton.

So I might have just been ripped off. I had 2 rooms for 4 nights on an award and 1 room for 4 nights that I paid for at the Kensington Hilton. Each free room had a couple local phone charges. Upon check out, they moved the charges all onto the room that I paid for. What did I miss out on?
