IŽd like to rent a convertible in LAX. Alamo is giving me the best price.
What kind of car will I likely get? Is it the Mustang shown on the homepage?

By the way I have read that it is possible to select the car when checking in ? How does it work? They offer the same rate for a Standard SUV could I also pick this one then ?

Usually they'll take you out and say pick anything in this row. I can't remember if I've rented from Alamo at LAX before and if that's how they do it or not.

I find when you get to the counter if you ask they'll sometimes be happy to switch you into something else at the same rate.

Alamo has a choiceline, so you can pick what you like from your booked category in the lot.

They don't guarantee models, so while they show a Mustang, it may also be a G6 (if they still exist), a Sebring, a PT Cruiser or similar.

In MIA, they did NOT allow me to swap from Convertible to SUV (which would have been the same rate online) when I didn't like the convertible selection.

If you must have a Mustang, go for Hertz.

Thank you all for the information. Hertz convertible selection shows a eclipse spyder for me its a no go. But its double the alamo price, so I dont want to know how much a specific car will cost. I think I will try alamo and tell you what kind if car I got. But the rent is in september, so some time to go.

Depending on how much time you have, you may always opt to wait for a better car.

Worst case scenario: Talk to the Manager.

I had one experience where I spent 2.5 hours in the lot waiting for a decent convertible to show.

Eventually I spoke to the manager inside, complained that the abused cars in the lot were not acceptable and I wanted a different car class instead, when -all of a sudden- I was asked "Don't you want a Mustang"?

Five minutes later they brought a brand new (few miles on the clock) Mustang convertible for me - probably from the National lot... Made the whole wait worthwhile ^

Thx for the info. I have reserved the car now, so lets see how it works out.
