American Express Membership Rewards - Cancelled Gold PR, great service by AMEX

After a lot of debate, I finally figured that the SPG card was just a better fit for my daily spending. The day the yearly fee posted, I settled in for what I expected as a long drawn out process of convincing them to let me cancel. Totally the opposite.
Not only did they not argue or try and convince me otherwise, but they at one time had 3 people on the phone making sure I didnt loose any points upon closing. I had a small negative balance of MR points but some airline purchases that the points were still pending. They made these points available to cancel out my negative balance and then went as far as to find somewhere I could transfer the few hundred points left over since most everything was a 1000 point minimum.
Maybe because I truly am using the SPG card a lot, maybe because I had been with them for a pretty long while, what ever the reason I was really impressed with the effort they put in for someone canceling a card and thought it was worth mentioning here.

I recently had the same experience. Help in transferring miles in my Membership rewards account to CO, then cancelled without a wimper.

Next day I received an email that my cancellation had been 'processed'.

I still use my *wood Amex a lot.
