I looked at this when I saw it posted yesterday and went to my Hertz account and saw I was already signed up and didn't do anything.

But then this morning I received the offer by email from Hertz and it made me wonder. So I went back, actually followed the instructions and realized I did NOT have "accept Hertz Rewards" checked - I had opted to receive points in another program.

Then you have to be careful to go back to the offer email pop-up window and in small print at the bottom it says to go to the next step where you enter your Hertz number twice.

Did that and got the notice that 500 points were approved.

Had I not seen it here, I probably would have just deleted the email.

Hertz points have better value than airline miles. That assumes that you pay for your own travel and car rental and that you rent cars often enough to reach an award.

I used to collect Hertz points but finally cashed it in and now just collect miles.
