Maybe I'm slow, but I am a bit confused - your help is appreciated.

*I have 7 old credits that will start expiring next month.

*I have 350 pts under the new system

*I would need to buy 11,000 pts ($275) to get a free flight award.

Now, assuming I do this, what is the procedure? This would save me over $250 off the fare I am seeing right now for my trip.

Have any of you done this? How quickly can you book the flight? Have you had any problems with this transaction?

thanks for your insight!

One other dumb question - I can book this reward flight for somebody else, right?

thanks

To buy the points, click "My Rapid Rewards", the purchase link is on the left near the bottom.

Once you've bought the points, click "View my old credits and rewards". There will be a link telling you that you have enough points to convert to a new standard award. Click the button to do so. The award will be instantly deposited in your account, and you can click the link to Book Reward Travel.

And yes, you can book a reward flight for someone else.

I didn't have to buy new points, but I did the points-to-credits conversion earlier this week, and had no problems with it at all.

Remeber that old awards are capacity controlled. It seems unlikely to me that a $425 flight will be available for an award.

You can convert points to the old credits but not the other way around. It would have been nice if WN allowed old credits to points, even if at a bad conversion rate. :( @:-)
