American Express Membership Rewards - Amex travel hotel+flight, different lengths.

So me and a friend are planning to go to vegas end of july, and have been pricing our options. We are planning to fly MSP-LAS on friday, and return monday on the 1 AM red-eye. We priced things out separately and if we book the Wynn+flight from their respective websites:
Flight total: $778 (for both of us)
Hotel: $658 (2 nights, encore suite)
Total: $1438

but if we book it on Amex as a combo it comes to $1306. So its clearly a better deal to do it from Amex but the problem is the website isnt smart enough to see that we only need the hotel for 2 nights, so its giving us it for 3. Presumably if i can find a way to book it for just 2 nights it should be cheaper (the nightly for the room is $329), is there any way to book a trip package with a different # of nights for the hotel then for the flight?

What did PTS say when you called and asked them this question?

...PTS...

I may be mistaken, but it sounds as if xolinlevh is looking at americanexpress.com/travel which is operated by Travelocity, not PTS.

It may be helpful to know that bookings made through americanexpress.com/travel will qualify for a one point per dollar Membership Rewards bonus, but not for FHR benefits.
