Hi all,
I've been trying to understand the car rental webpage on the SAS website. Do you know if any insurances are included in the price? It used to be some insurances included before, but now I couldn't find any information.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated,
Linus

I guess you mean for points, then all is included except airport taxes.

I apologize. I meant booking through the website and paying with cash. It's not clear to me what is actually included. It seems cheaper than booking directly through the car rental company.

yes, it's more expensive to book through SAS's site. I don't think you can get the extra points (if they have campaign like rent group C with avis or above you get a bonus of 1500 pts instead of 500), I tried it last time and I couldn't get the 1000 pts from SAS/Avis.

I usually book through avis flying blue when I book with Avis.

I booked a 4 week rental with Avis in the US last May online at SAS.no. It was the cheapest rate I could find at that time and it included insurance. The car actually got totaled in an accident (not my fault) and Avis replaced at no charge the following day. All in all I was very pleased.

Thanks for your help. I just couldn't find anywhere what kinds of insurances were included. I know it was included in the past as it said so when making the booking, but now I can't tell.

If you click that you are Scandinavian resident, then all the insurance should be included if you booked through SAS/Flyingblue/LH etc., even avis.se.

The past few times I rented through Avis I actually compared flyingblue and SAS's and FB's avis portal is the cheapest. You get the best price around 6 weeks before departure IMO.

The insurance is called LDW, ALI - LDW is the most important one, and it brings down the selvrisk to 0 which is fantastic. However LDW is only available rental in the US (maybe Canada - I don't know). In Europe it's called CDW, and most of them you'll have selvrisk of about EUR800. You can bring that down by buying extra insurance when you pick up the car.

it will very clearly say what kind of insurance is inclued, try different Avis sites
and you'll get different result. AVIS BA will give you more or less the same price for the US as Avis SK but you'll also get an extra driver for free (if that's important).

and btw I sitll haven't seen any bonus from this

Me neither - I have contacted both SK and Avis, and got nowhere. So I book through the cheapest Avis portal.

I think if you rent a car with Avis in the US, it's their policy to have your spouse/employee as an additional driver without charge. I just did this this March at Avis LAX.
