Any suggestions on where to have lunch with a 5 & 7 year old plus their parents after visiting Steamtown in Scranton?

if you're walking - downtown scranton has some decent irish pubs that are great for burgers, etc. or you could always hit "coney island lunch" (i think that's the name) for dogs, etc. - i think it is one of the very first restaurants in scranton.

In all honesty there really aren't any great restaurants in downtown Scranton. There is an Irish pub called Kildares on Lackawanna Ave near Steamtown. Also, the Radisson Hotel has two restaurants, one that is along the old train tracks called Tracs. The other restaurant, carmen's, has some decent food.

There's Thai Rac Thai that is very good on the corner of Mulberry St and Adams Ave. Which is about 4 blocks form Steamtown. bkgournet mentioned Coney Island lunch. The Texas wieners used to be great but aren't so hot now but passable. Their Texas wiener competition, also called Coney Island I think, is on Lacakawanna Ave between N. Washington Ave and Adams Ave. And is better than Cooney Island at the moment. They're relatives who don't get along. The Hilton on that corner has a passable restaurant.

A small Mediterranean restaurant is on N.Washington north of Lackawanna Ave.

All these restaurants are within walking distance and probably just fine for kids. If you're looking for a better restaurant amd don't mind driving about 2 miles I can provide you with one.

I just happened to think of another one that has pretty good Italian food called La Trattoria. It's on Moosic St across the Spruce St bridge but better to drive because of the traffic although not far. Ask anyone in town and they'll be able to direct you.

There's a good pizza restaurant called Buona Pizza ( Mr Piccolino is right from Italy who owns it). It is the round thin pizza where the grease drips down your arm when you eat it. It's delicious if you like that kind of pizza.

Dont waste your time going to the Steamtown Mall. It's totally disgusting.

I just thought of another restaurant. It's Farley's on the corner of Linden St and Adams Ave. I have not eaten there in a while but it was food the last time I was there.

Last night we had dinner in a new restaurant in town. They serve lunch and I would highly recommend it. It's called Carl Von Lugers steakhouse and is on the corner of N Washington Ave and Linden St. It is within walking distance of Steamtown. The food is good quality and you can eat inside or out. It's more expensive than the others I listed.
