A friend of mine just booked a flight on Continental TLV-EWR and the site states "Special meals not available on this flight" (June 29 23:50 flight) so he can't book a kosher meal. What gives?

What gives? It's a bug in the site. The better place to post this would've been the Continental (Pre-Merger) forum, not this one. All your friend needs to do is go to manage booking (he'll need his 6-character confirmation number, or, if he's a OnePass member, just his OP number,) and edit traveler information, and by meal request, select Kosher meal. If he's having trouble doing this online, call them. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight/dining/special/default.aspx is it possible that the ticket was through Continental but it is actually a code share flight? No. Continental codeshares with a bunch of airlines, none of whom leave TLV at 23:50. Only CO does. This is CO91. Only CO85 and CO91, both TLV-EWR non-stops on CO metal have CO numbers, I believe. (Some AC or LH flights may also have a CO number, but I don't think so) Besides, let's say it is a codeshare. CO has to say that the flight is actually operated by ABC Airline. TravelOnMyMind Jun 23, 11, 10:07 pm pretty sure that all meals to tlv on co are glatt but double check joshwex90 Jun 23, 11, 10:18 pm pretty sure that all meals to tlv on co are glatt but double check Not even close! All KSMLs ex-USA and ex-TLV on CO are Glatt, so on CO84/85/90/91, all the KSMLs are Glatt. However, not all meals are Kosher! You still need to order the KSML. On my last CO85 in BF, I was one of 3 out of a sold out BF cabin (50 pax) who had a KSML. Meaning 47 pax did NOT have a Glatt meal, and that's just BF TravelOnMyMind Jun 24, 11, 10:24 am Sorry my bad i meant all kosher meals are Glatt. Continental Airlines - Special Meals (http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight/dining/special/default.aspx):Kosher meals are prepared by Kosher caterers under strict Rabbinical supervision and may also incorporate fresh fruit or sealed items such as individually packaged bagels that meet Kosher laws. Special Kosher for Passover meals are supplied during Passover. All Kosher meals provided for flights departing the U.S., and flights departing Tel Aviv are "Glatt" Kosher. joshwex90 Jul 1, 11, 9:04 am even the dairy are glatt;) One very frum-looking person sitting next to me tried convincing me that it's a mistake, and we shouldn't use the word "Glatt" to describe dairy, as it's a misnomer. We should use "Mehadrin" instead. Fine. He then asked his buddy whether the chicken was Glatt  |
