I recently had the opportunity to stay at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, which was rebranded from a Hotel Nikko just a few months ago. As a Royal Ambassador I booked a basic room and got upgraded to a club room. On the whole I had an amazing stay. I especially enjoyed the club, which was one of the nicer ones of any InterContinental I've stayed at. Every employee I interacted with was professional and eager to please.

I wrote a full review, along with dozens of pictures, which can be found here (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2011/06/17/four-continents-and-37000-miles-in-two-weeks-le-meridien-kuala-lumpur/).

Any updates on this property?

It has gotten worse. The hotel has found many more ways to penny pinch customers.

1) Royal Ambassadors will no longer be upgraded to Club while booking the cheapest room.

2) There are now two internet options. Free internet are for Royal Ambassadors and Ambassadors. The Internet speed is extremely slow (probably dial-up quality). The paid internet remains an option and is fast.

3) Minibar has been improvised. There are no longer alcohols (except 3 beer) in the minibar.

4) Management view Ambassadors and Royal Ambassadors as cost centers.

5) Swimming pool has not been renovated. It's a joke.

6) Some of the rooms are still not renovated.

There are much better hotels in KL. You might want to try the brand new Grand Hyatt. They treat customers much better.

I agree with the above, the Double Tree across the road was much nicer yet cheaper, pity as there are now very limited KL options with the CP gone.
