Hi all

I have only recently joined HH and have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.

Firstly, am I reading the program correctly? From what I understand, I can transfer 20,000 United miles into HH and get 40,000 points. Simple enough. 20,000 United miles is worth about $US300 by my reckoning.

But then I read the following page

https://www.hilton.com/hhonors/rewards/hotel.html

It appears that as of 1 July I can exchange 33,000 points for six free nights at a Hilton (listed under 'opportunity' - what is 'opportunity'?.

That seems like a great deal. 33,000 points = 16,500 miles.

Six nights for 16,500 miles sounds too good to be true. Am I missing something?

My second question concerns Noumea. Is it possible to redeem Hilton points for a hotel stay in Noumea (New Caledonia).

My final question concerns bonus enrolment points with Mexican, Latinpass & Delta. Has anyone ever successfuly had any of these transferred to HH?

Thanking you

cheers Peter

As to your first question. Yes airline miles from Hilton's ariline reward exchage members do translate into double points for miles (except for AA, they are 1:1). The airlines are aa, continental, delta, hawaiian, lanchile, latinpass, mexicana, midwest express, south african, twa, and united. This exchangeability is one of the big pluses for the Hhonors program. Although I have not yet chosen to transfer any of my delta miles to hilton points, my understanding is that the process is fairly routine.
The 33,000 point week award at an opportunity hotel is under the "point strecher" table of rewards. These are avaible on on point strecher dates. Every hotel has different dates. There are not many dates per year and some hotels have none. "standard" hotel rewards cost you more points. The same stay is 55,000 under the standard plan.
"opportunity" refers to the class of the hotel. The nice hotel catagory, the more points required. Opportunity > executive > select > classic > up to premium.

Remember**** When you go the other way in the reward exchange program, ie: hilton points to miles, the same rate is not given. In other words, your 40,000 Hhonors points would not become 20,000 united miles again. 40,000 honors points will only get you 7,000 airline miles!!!! So, don't transfer airline miles to Hilton unless you need them for an Hhonors award..

I love the Hhonors program and the double dip bonus cannot be beat. The reward exchange with the airlines as well as with AMEX MR and Diners is another plus....Good Luck

All of the above makes this such a great program.
I earned 500,000 miles on the Latin Pass promo. I am transferring them all into Hilton. I'm ending up with 1,000,000 points. Not bad for $1,200 in flights.

You could do an Elvis and live at the Las Vegas Hilton for a year or two!

Please note it took me 90 days and then phone calls to Hilton and Continental to transfer CO miles to HH points!

They say 90 days is the allotted time scale.

However, it takes UA about 2 weeks and DL/AA around a month. CO seem the odd one out.

I've never had any trouble transferring CO points to HHONORS - usually its done in a few weeks. I transfer from American Express to Continental where the ratio is 1:1, then to HHONORS where its 2:1, as opposed to transferring directly from Amex to HHONORS where I believe 1000 Amex points is 1300 HHONORS points.

I was VERY impressed with my AA transfer to HHonors transfer. Called AA Customer service on Sunday afternoon. Received HHonors Certificate on Wednesday by regular mail. Mailed certificate to HHonors customer service in Texas by regular mail on Thursday afternoon. Hhonors points posted by Hhonors customer service on the following Monday. And NO I don't live in TX... Aprox. ONE week from start to finish to COMPLETE process. Thanks American Airlines and Hhonors for the PROMPT service!

Best Regards,

That's great Mike - I suspect the only delay in my case with AA and DL was the certificates coming by mail from the US to the UK. The points are credited to my account within a couple of days of me posting them to the Hhonors service centre in Glasgow. When I transferred 120k points from Delta, Hhonors even phoned me to confirm that the transfer had been completed.

(That, by the way is a tip... if you live outside of the US, use your local service centre. They always seem to be significantly more helpful and efficient than Hhonors in Texas. The same is true for others such as DL and Amex.)
