Hilton HHonors - Hilton Garden Inn Detroit

Just stayed in this hotel near airport.. very new.. I think they opened too soon! Stayed there because of new promo offering double points double miles if paying w/ Amex.. HOWEVER.. movie channel doesn't work.. regular channels fuzzy.. only one line of the two line phone works.. NO LIQUOR LICENSE.. so don't expect wine w/ dinner.. all in all about a Motel 6 experience. Garden Inns are pretty iffy for me...

this property is not new. rarther, it is
older than dirt. i have stayed there twice
when i arrived (home) very late and did not
feel like driving two hours. i agree with
your motel 6 comment.

it is on my 'avoid' list. there is a red
roof inn just up the street that is indeed
new.

Somehow I was under the impression all HGI were nicely new and recently built. Everyone I have stayed at (approx 8) were opened within the past 4-8 months.

Maybe this has something to do with the local tradition of the NWA DTW hub, ageing DC-9's, ageing DC-10's etc.
