Italy - FCO transit 4.5 hours

I'm flying DOH-ORD via FCO transit for 4.5 hours.
- It's my first time flying via FCO. How can I spend my time there? I don't have lounge access. Is it worth it to buy one? Or is it big enough to engage my time there during my stay?
- I arrive at terminal 3 (with Qatar Airways) then fly out from terminal 5 (with American Airlines), am i going to go through security again? Should I stay most of my time at terminal 3 or is 5 good enough, or neither are good?
- I've got a green card, that wouldn't allow me to get a 24 hours day visa or anything of some sort, right?
thanks

You shouldn't need to go through Terminal 5, assuming any checked bags are checked through. T5 is just a check-in facility, where people are bused to the G satellite, which is also accessed from Terminal 3. Ideally you'll have your AA boarding pass, whether it's issued at your first check-in or you print it online. If not, you should get it, or a document that will let you through security, since I think you will have that check, at a transit desk.

Thanks for your input rove312. Anyone can confirm that?
And how about FCO as an airport transit? Is there a lot to do during my 4.5 hour stay? Prices?

Did you do this yet (Connect through FCO)?
I am doing it soon also . . . same deal as you, 4.5 hours.
I am wondering if its possible to make a quick run into Rome?
If not, how was the move from the arrival to the next flight?
I will be also flying with American Airlines from FCO, and coming with Turkish Airlines to Terminal 3. I will definetely print the boarding pass online if I can. Can I go through the transit desk and reach the gate area G (gate: G14) without going out of terminal 3? A friend asked to immigration police in Rome airport yesterday with phone for me , they said need to go through passport control and need schengen visa to Terminal 5. I don't have a schengen visa and also not rely on their answers on flight connection. Did anyone ever make it to transit from Terminal 3 to American flights in satellite terminal? thank you all.
ps: thank you rove312 for the information.

I think this scenario only applies if you have to get the std check in desks at T5. In this case you're forced to get off the transit area and the whole T3, and so you need the visa.
do i really need to leave the transit area or terminal 3? can't I go directly to G14 from Terminal 3's transit desk?

The transit desks are in the T3 G area itself (https://www.adrassistance.it/download/PDF_MAPPE/terminal-3_partenze_mod_acc.pdf), close to the entrance stairway.
When you step in the terminal, follow instructions for transit. You'll clear security and then get the boarding gates.
There's a warning. You can't collect the baggage and check in again. If you have baggage to collect, you have to clear immigration and thus you'll need a visa.
Anyway, i suppose that TK and AA have interline agreement.
