Hi I have a couple of hours to kill connecting on aa domestic ticket at IAD Is it posssible to use a shuttle.transfer to Concourse B to use the LH and BA lounges?? If so is will I need to reclear security? Will TSA allow it? Or is it like LAX (the worst airport ever!) where I cant access any Star alliance lounges unless theyre in the same terminal of departure?

On an all-domestic ticket, you can reach the international lounges at IAD without difficulty. Some have limited hours of operation, so wise to check on-line to see which ones might be open for you.

It varies based upon airport design but in IAD's case, once you clear security, you can access all the terminals and gates so yes, you can access the LH and BA lounges. You will need proper credentials for entrance, though. For LH, that would include * Gold status and an onward boarding pass on a * A flight.

I'll move this to the very active Washington D.C. forum so that those most familiar with the airport can add their experiences.

LH lounge, next to gate B51, is open 8:20am-6:30pm (walked by it today). And it is very close to the B Concourse AeroTrain station. The BA lounge is sort-of above the LH lounge with a clearly marked elevator to get up there.

As previously noted, there are no security checkpoints going from any concourse to any other concourse.

All inter-gate movement at IAD is in sterile area, so no need to reclear TSA when moving between concourses/gates. LH lounge fairly near Aerotrain stop for B. On another note, TSA has changed its policy. If you hold a valid BP for LAX on a given day, you may enter other concourses with that BP. If this concerns you at all, your carrier can issue a gate pass for the club.

As others have suggested, terminal access is not the problem, lounge access may be. It doesn't sound like you will be able to access the LH lounge, because you will not have the requisite *A boarding pass.

IAD now has a train system which operates between terminals which you can use in lieu of the People movers, depending on where your aa gate is.

At IAD, AA only uses B71, B73. If you are connecting thru dulles purely on AA, it is a very easy walk down to the BA lounge.

Have the hours changed? Was hoping to pass by early morning but if not, no worries. IAD Chipotle is only location that serves breakfast! ;)

Chipotle is indeed open breakfast hours. But they stopped offering a breakfast menu some time ago - just the regular menu is available all day.

The only reason the LH lounge is open in the am is because of the ANA flight.
The odd hour of opening is because it is exactly 3 (?) hours before the flight.
