Right now, Hurtigruten is leaving Bergen for the 5,5 day trip to Kirkenes. On board is several cameras and the whole trip is being streamed live online and broadcasted in Scandinavia on NRK2.

Fans of Hurtigruten can follow the whole trip, for 5,5 days non-stop on http://www.hurtigruten.com/live.

--- Edit:

Alternative link when the stream above is broken: http://www.nrk.no/hurtigruten/?lang=en

The stream is live from 16 June to 22 June. After which I'm sure it will be available for on-demand viewing.

"Very slow" live cruise show a hit

Worn out by a fast-paced life and faster-paced television shows but lack a vacation budget? Take a five-day cruise along Norway's scenic fjords, all free and streamed live on Norwegian public television.

The live 5 day broadcast is happening now and available on the URL in the previous post.

It's also live on NRK2 in Norway, and getting surprisingly good ratings.

If you're elsewhere in Europe, and have a steerable satellite dish, you can watch the live feed from the boat at 0.8W,with the following parameters:
11.461GHz V / SR 3600 / FEC 3/4 / DVB-S2 QPSK / Pilot off

I've got it on in the background at work, it's quite calming! :)

There's some interesting info about the project on the NRKbeta blog at http://nrkbeta.no/2011/06/16/hurtigruten-eng/

CNN's Fareed Zakaria did a comment on this broadcast on this week's GPS. The video clip is available at cnn.com/gps. (http://bit.ly/kVYVWV). It's actually a nice montage, and it sums up the 5,5 day long trip (and TV show) quite good and in only one minute.
