Here's hoping that this - http://www.skyteam.com/your-trip/Travel-Planner/ - also ends up having booking functionality...

Saw these posts randomly looked at the website and wow...Skyteam is really light years behind! The low end alliance tag is really justified, i guess. SKyteamers should switch if they can to one of the others --- a much better deal I assure you.

truly much worse than the conglomeration of airlines that Star has thrown together. And much lower end than Oneworld that still has a bankrupt airline on their adverts.

Apparently some people are insecure in the quality of the alliance(s) they fly and like to come around to the ST forum to throw around insults from time to time. It's easiest to just ignore them.

I really wonder what is going on in the mind of those for whom airline alliances are a matter of religion and who even try to convert others to their own faith. I imagine them as people who are quick to judge, jump to conclusions, have a tendency to look down on other people and have an irrational feeling of being a superior breed of human beings. In short: people you better leave alone. So I defintely agree with the previous comment: these folks should be ignored.

My comment was not intended to be an insult just a rebuke to the poster whom I quoted stating that ST was the low end alliance. I have no problem with S* or OW. I was simply stating that skyteam is not what he claims it to be and that the other alliances have their flaws.

As someone with two top tier ST memberships, two top tier * memberships and one top tier 1W membership, let me assure you that at the end of the day one is as bad as another.

Hi bfxfd, I did not refer to your comment, and I reckon mtkeller didn't either (or s/he didn't recognize the irony in your comment). Anyway, no worries.

And, oh yes, I do like the new Skyteam website!

I wasn't referring to bfxfd either. I got, and appreciated, his/her meaning. Probably should have put a +1 to indicate I was referring to rathin100's post.

Right now, there isn't any pricing information on various "Go passes". It seems like a low cost static design.

One's experience with an alliance also depends on the airline one chooses or one's primary FF programme. My experience with Skyteam was better before NW was gobbled up by DL, but it's getting better slowly. In a recent incident in which my baggage was damaged, the airline not only offered a repalcement, but also made a call just to apologise. My wife had answered the call, but the agent insisted that they had to speak with me. I thought they probably wanted more information such as copies of BP, and luggage tags. But all they did was inform me that a check to cover the full amount was on the way and aplogise so profusely, that all thoughts of the damage left me. They are trying hard. I feel that AF is a tougher nut to crack.
Re: The Skyteam website, I agree that it's more a show than anything else. Are OneWorld and Star websites more functional?

I feel that some of them are so insecure that they derive their self esteem from feeling good about their alliance by going to diss or insult another alliance.

I can understand criticising one's alliance if one feels there is a shortcoming. But when one has no stake in an alliance, what motivation is there for doing it?

I suspect, many of them are newbie flyers from countries where flying was and still is neither affordable for the general population, nor as common
