Hong Kong and Macau - Men's Clothing in HK
I'll be spending a week in Hong Kong later this month and was hoping to do a decent amount of shopping while I was there. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to go for trendy men's clothing? Maybe some of the micro-malls around Mong Kok? Or areas around Queens Road? Not looking for high-end couture clothing, or the usual chains (Zara, H&M, etc.), but just smaller, trendier, local shops that I couldn't find elsewhere. Even suggestions on streets/neighbourhoods to walk around to find things would be greatly appreciated.
I spent some time in HK a few years back, so I know about the usual malls (IFC, Harbour City, Times Square, etc.), and some of the main shopping around Mong Kok. Just curious if there were other lesser-known places to go.
Thanks,
Rob

GOD (http://www.god.com.hk/) can have some interesting stuff.
Looks interesting. Thanks!
I'm hoping finding one or two cool shops like that will lead to a few more when I start walking around the area.

There's a Doc Martens shoe store in the tunnel at basement of the Sheraton that is quite good. Used to be an Esprit outlet there too, but it is now gone. Just keep in mind that clothing styles in HKG are now driven by what sells to the hordes of shoppers from the mainland (so it is very label conscious). Also counterfeit is everywhere, even in the official designer stores (a few years back I politely pointed this out to the Zegna store in the Pen hotel -- they had fake Zegna pants in stock and didn't know it, or at least so the manager claimed). It was priced as genuine, fwiw.

You might also want to pick-up the latest Luxe Guide for HK. There's normally a decent section on shopping, though it does tend more towards those of the female persuasion.

Smaller local shops then expect less fluent in english salesperson.
Just my 2 cents.

I always equated G2000 to the states version of Banana Republic with Giordano/Bossini being the Gap.

I would think it's a tough stretch...but not too far off.
I can say that with the many suits that I've bought at G2000, all of them are holding up okay, including my favourite one purchased for the nice price of HK$399, yes a full suit for US$51!
The folks at G2000 can speak enough english to get by, and if you go to the right G2000 outlets (namely Sai Yeung Choi St [one block West of Tung Choi] in Mong Kok), you can find really good deals on work clothes.
Also, someone mentioned Goods of Desire, which I just went to last week and will continue to frequent.
While the clothes were quite a bit more expensive, the store, like a HK version of IKEA, was hipper and had some trendier clothes, t-shirts, wallets and homewares.
I went to the GOD location in Causeway Bay but I saw the one in the North area of Central, close to the Mid-Levels.

I don't know MUJI or UNI QLO. They are kind of cool as well and at least UNI QLO is not around in the US / Europe.

There is also a brand called "5cm" that is pretty cool. They have their own shops - I believe I saw one at the Elements mall. Their stuff can be pretty fashion forward as well as on the straight side so there is something for everybody.

Wow, I was COMPLETELY turned around...I guess it doesn't help that every time I'm in that area, my natural compass turns toward the Peak and obviously in my head I always think that's North...sad.
Thanks for pointing that out! :)

Thanks to everyone for the info. We did end up in Causeway Bay at G.O.D., which was a very cool store, just the kind of thing we were looking for. That whole area was filled with some great stuff. We ended up buying some "5cm" clothing as well, so plenty of finds in Causeway Bay if you're willing to explore.
