So, had my first Novotel stay in Switzerland for one night only (Sat-Sun) and was not disappointed at all.

Location: The hotel is very close to the central train station (max 5 min walk) and same to the lake. It is in a very quiet area with grocery shops nearby as well as a good selection of restaurants (both Swiss and ethnic types). Apparently the world famous Yodelling Restaurant Edelweiss (doesn't get more kitsch that that) is 2 min from the Novotel but need months in advance reservations :)

The Hotel/Room: Very clean and functional indeed. There is a specific A-Club check-in desk but not specified for elite card holders so any one (I guess) can use the facilities. It was not open when we were there. The staff were very thorough at check-in and didn't let them get stressed out by waiting clients behind the ones being served. Bright colours and contemporary feel to the lobby. Got a room on the 6th floor which was very spacious. The room was very bright indeed with a sofa, separate WC and bathroom. Free wireless internet with password which you will have to obtain from the lobby. The air-conditioning actually worked and was very efficient.

Other: Don't know if you know this, but when you arrive in GVA get your free public transportation ticket which is valid for 80 min on all of SBB trains and busses within the city limits. Also, ask for this at the hotel and you will get a day card travel on all public transportation for free for the days you are booked at the hotel. Great to for the water-bus service for some free sightseeing in an other-so-wise expensive city ^

Also saw that Air Canada staff checked in to the hotel as well (Capt.’s and all) so can't be too bad...

Verdict: I loved it. It had just what you needed and the bed/sheets/duvets were spot on and I'd go back without a doubt.

^^^^ out of 5 possible ^

I stayed at this hotel and had the opposite experience.

Rate was not cheap for Geneva, but I had wanted to try European chains, on my trip.

My room was on the first floor, therefore, none of the large windows you see in the pictures. Also, my room was in a corner so my bathroom had large windows that were almost at street level. Large Arab population at the hotel so few TV had tons of varied content.

The front desk staff is not too friendly and awful on directions. They gave me wrong directions three times and at that point I gave up and starting using the internet. They are also not too good with tips on things to do.
Internet is free in the rooms, which is a plus.

Location is iffy. The area is a little seedy with street walkers, Tripadvisor backs me up, but at the same time good for getting around the city.

Tip, since the hotel will get you lost: If you arrive to the train station, make sure you turn left out of the front and turn right onto Rue de Zuirch (after McDonalds)

I would most likely not return.
