Does anyone have experience with properties by Temporary Apartments? Looking at hotels.com, I see several that are pretty inexpensive in the Recoleta neighborhood. In particular, I see Concord Callao, IQ Callao, and Studio Pueyrredon that all have pretty good reviews.
Given the choice, would you take one of these, or the Sheraton Libertador?

Couple of years ago, I stayed in a really nice 1 BR apartment on Vincente Lopez and Junin, next door to the Loi Suites Hotel, through Bytargentina. The location was superb, and at the price, definitely a better deal than the Libertador - even at Priceline rates. The apartment cost me under $400 US for a week, including the booking fee. The main issue is, the logistics of paying a security deposit, and being able to coordinate the checkout and return of the deposit with the rental agent:

There is a trip report which you should read about that by Olafman. He and his Family were/are there and he talks about where and what service he used.

For short term apartment rentals, I would strongly suggest you check with BA Habitat before making a final decision. I know the owners of this company and they are serious business people, Ive sent many folks there way and never had anything but rave reviews.
If you want, contact me via PM or email and I will put you in contact with one of the owners.
Cheers,

+1 on this.
I'm currently in one of their apartments in Recoleta and it's exactly as advertised on their website. Communication throughout the process was great. We had a 5:30am arrival at EZE and was concerned about getting into the apartment that early. No issues at all... they had someone waiting for us at the apartment.

My views exactly... I send them clients and other folks that contact me all the time and Ive never had anything but great reviews.

As far as I can tell, BA Habitat only has weekly or longer rentals. We're just looking for three nights.

Have you asked them about making an exception...? Maybe this is doable, I think it doesnt hurt to ask.

I have never used BA Habitat. I am on a stricter budget,$500/mes Studio, and realize I can not afford all the expat amenities they offer.
I wish I could give you some recommendations but I did not have luck with my online reservations. I used local property managers, which you must be careful of as well. If you can find a nice apartment with a company that comes with endorsements from the likes of the people above, I would go with it.

I got a few suggestions around Recoleta from BA Habitat, and am wondering how you would rank these options based strictly on location? (Rates and amenities are all comparable.)
Libertad St. between Arenales St. & Santa Fe Ave.
Pacheco de Melo St. between Uriburu St. & Junin St
Libertad St. between Libertador Ave. & Posadas
Montevideo St. & Alvear Ave

In my opinion, choices 1 and 2 are the least desirable... I would take either 3 or 4.
I wonder if BA Habitat's ownership has changed and if any BM's have recent experience dealing with them.
I filled in their online form almost 2 weeks ago requesting an apartment in Palermo for next February. They replied fairly promptly saying it wasn't available. Fair enough.
But then they offered my about 10 alternatives all in Recoleta and Barrio Norte. Not all that helpful considering I was looking for Palermo.
So I replied by e-mail over a week ago asking if they had alternatives they could offer in Palermo. No response.
So on the weekend I politely forwarded my reply of a week ago saying I was hoping for a reply. So far no response. Not very impressive so far.
Does anyone have a suggestion for another agency with good apartments listed in Palermo?

Back in 2008 I used Friendly Apartments for a one week stay and got an amazing apartment in Recoleta. The apartment made that week really great for me. I cooked everynight and stayed in just to enjoy the apartment (I had planned to go out on a Saturday night but a driving unending thunderstorm and me with no umbrella kept me in).
I just wish they would set up shop in Rio.

Thanks for your kind offer, Gaucho100K.
I have now heard from BA Habitat with an offering of some good looking apartments in Palermo. I now have to consult those who really make the decisions in my family. I think I'll be able to work something out with BA Habitat.
We are planning 6 weeks in Argentina in January-February, 2013. I have the first 10 nights booked in an apartment in Recoleta with another couple, longtime friends on their first visit to BA.
Then we head off on our own to Salta for 9 nights of touring, seeing some sights we missed when we had to cut short a visit in 2010. Then back to BA for a night and off to Mendoza for a week to check that the wine is still as good as the last time.
Then back to BA for almost 2 weeks including a weeklong visit from son and daughter-in-law with whom we plan to share an apartment in Palermo. It will be our first stay in Palermo and we though it a good location if the younger couple wish to check out some nightlife on their own. It could also be walking distance to La Cabrera where my son can ensure he has an adequate diet of red meat during his first visit to Argentina.
All of this is a nice way to escape the Great White North at the best time of year. ;)

Very helpful.
I got some info on my previous Qs and a PM from Gaucho100K thanks http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/argentina/1333454-accommodation-2-ba-duration-stay.html
Because of availability I am still looking and maybe considering boutique hotels. In regarding the links, is Recoleta the best area or Palermo? For a couple who are going to stay there for about one week doing tourists stuff and maybe a language course which one would you recommend.
Gracias
