I tried posting in the Pets forum and didn't get responses, so perhaps I'll have better luck here!

Looking for any dog-friendly beaches that are also nice for people-swimming (nice sand/water with good visability). I know there must be some hidden gems out there!

One beach not mentioned is Honeymoon Island in Dunedin. They have a separate Dog Beach which is very nice. You have sand dunes, small marshy areas, and sometimes you see dolphins. It is a state park, so there is a $8 entrance fee.

There are stretches of the Courtney Campbell Causeway between Tampa and Clearwater where you have easy access to water. Rocky coast and some stairs. My dog could navigate it when I had him there.

Gandy Bridge on the St Pete side is sand out into water, but very busy on weekends.

Ft Desoto has many spots where you can walk into the bay on the road as you drive in. keep in mind again that it can get busy on weekends, and watercraft traffic.

Delray Beach north of Atlantic avenue just north of the main beach area is OK for pets. It is also one of the beast beaches for swimming down here.

I second this recommendation. Great beaches for people and dogs alike.
