Who are you flying and what class of travel? Are you asking for a paid entry or ?
The Singapore Air SilverKris Flyer lounge is the best, but that only comes with star alliance premium class travel.

If you are paying you should look into the transit hotels or Rainforest which you will get a real bed and shower facilities. Links to them are on the Changi website.

Deleted - did post about the outdoor pool (unique to Singapore yet one of the cheapest options) until I spotted this was around midnight.

We had a nice soak in the pool after dining at Airport Rd Centre. But the pool hours are 7-11. Pool access is part of transit hotel privilege for T1.
It was interesting soaking in the pool with a drink plane-spotting.^

So, if I arrive on United Business class, I can just go in?

Only if you have a connecting flight in *A business class. If not, you're out of luck, as there are no arrival lounges in SIN.
Of course, you can always pay a bit (S$35, IIRC?) for eg. Plaza Premium Lounge.

I can't seem to find a map of the airport online. Which of the lounges or hotels are behind immigration?
I arrive at about midnight and leave for KL about 6 the next morning - would rather spend as much time as possible sleeping/resting than waiting in a line

There's a Crowne Plaza attached to T3 outside security. The Ambassador Transit Hotels are airside and book time in six hour blocks. The latter is your best option. Keep in mind you won't have access to your checked baggage because you're not entering Singapore. Pack a carry on with a change of clothes to bring with you.

(direct link to Transit Hotel info from this page is down).
If the Transit hotels are full, there are lots of nap-friendly spots with cushions and couches all over. There's also the free movie theatre in T3 next to the Transit Hotel. Nap central!

Have a pending 6 hr layover in Sin in a few weeks. Arriving around 23:00, departing 06:00 next day. I do hold *G status (UA).
Are there any *G lounges open during that time, w shower even better?
Aware SQ seems to go by there on rules and may or may not allow me access.

Jun 20, 11, 2:55 pm
SQ was really strict with me, and wouldn't even entertain the idea of letting me in since I was "arriving". (I have a President's Club membership) With your flight being next day, they may pull that also, as many of the rules say "same day".
The Ambassador Transit Lounge was not too bad. The showers are clean and very nice, nap rooms, and they have a fitness area that looks out on the butterfly pavillion. It's ~$35 (SGD) including a shower, need Priority Pass or Diners Club International to get in.

Can you give a bit more information please, ie, what airline is your departing flight with (the 6AM one)? Note that *Gold access requires a flight (proven with boarding pass) on a *Alliance carrier.
Is your 6AM flight UA 896 to HKG? If so, UA's contract lounge is the SATS lounge (note - SATS is independent of SQ). This lounge has two shower stalls. Additionally with *Gold you can access the SQ Kris Gold lounge if you are flying economy (no shower), or the Silver Kris lounge if you are flying business/first class. All three lounges are in the same general place in T3. Unfortunately I don't have the hours for the lounges although SATS has to be open by 4AM since that's when the check in counters for UA opens. I have the sense both SQ lounges are open 24 hours but this needs to be confirmed, I'm not certain about this.

Both SQ and the SATS lounges were open at mignight/1AM when I was there, so I would assume they are open 24hr

Departing UA804 (NRT) 0700. UG Y-> C pending. So if does not clear being in Y. can only access KrisFlyer Gold lounge, correct?
If only KFGL only option is transit hotel to change/shower etc?

No, there is the Ambassador Transit Lounge, and just "renting" a shower at the transit hotel.
Since the transit hotel in terminal 1 is being remodeled, they fill up quick. If you want to stay in the transit hotel, book a reservation NOW.
All that said, I can think of no better airport to be "stuck" in than SIN. Between the butterfly pavilion, movie theater, gardens, free Internet, and plenty of comfortable seating, it's ALMOST a downgrade to go into the lounges!

Transit hotel are better value when you need to sleep off some hours. If it is only freshening up/shower the "spa" is a better deal for just washing up.

To your last question, the answer is I don't think so. I'm 99% sure you can go to the SATS lounge no matter what.
You said earlier that you are UA *Gold? To be clear, you're either UA Premier Exec or 1K (first is gold card, second is charcoal with gold flecks)? I'm being picky here because with that status you can access the SATS lounge regardless of your class of service (I fly my own nickel so it's almost always Y). The normal process is that when you check in at the counter you would get a SATS lounge pass with your boarding pass. I assume you would get the lounge pass if you check in at the transit desk. Even if you don't get the pass, it's worth a shot to go to the lounge with your boarding pass and *Gold card in hand. BTW for a shower here ask when you check in; the staff will give you a towel. The other interesting thing about the SATS lounge is that they have massage chairs (Barcalounger type), four I think, each in it's own walled off area. Assuming this lounge is open all night a not very nice thing to do is to camp out in one of these chairs and snooze for a few hours.
There's one other outcome. If you get the upgrade to C-class, you will be able to go to the Silver Kris Lounge (to be clear, I mean that you can go to the SKL with a UA C-class bp - I've done it). In fact if you try to enter the Kris Gold lounge with a C-class bp, you'll be redirected to the SKL. In any case you should still have your access to the SATS lounge so you should be able to hit that and either Kris Gold or SKL.
SATS is the first lounge on the right after the escalator going up; Kris Gold is the next one down. SKL is at the end of the corridor, right turn, then left, not obvious but worth the walk.
BTW when you're transiting in NRT be sure to check out the UA RCC and NH lounges (long threads on that in UA forum). You can get showers there if you can't do it in SIN; UA one is particularly nice IMHO. And please let us know how it all turns out.

Last year my Y->C upgrade was pending for the same route. I went to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge but was directed to the SilverKris Lounge when the guy at the entrance saw my DM card with business pending. I was allowed into SKL with the DM card. If you can get your boarding pass and DM card before you arrive in SIN, you can try the SKL. Not sure if the rules have changed since then...

Among the "paid" lounges, surely JetQuay would be the best.

I have a 14 hr layover in Singapore 1am-4pm. I may head into town but may just chill at the airport.
I have a LoungeClub.com pass that gets me into lounges. Looks like there's three at Singapore.
Any advice on which to pick?
Sleeping, and free food/drink are my priorities.
Rainforest (says its 4 hrs max so prob not good for me)
Ambassador Lounge (alcohol and rooms extra)
Green Market
I can also burn my Continental President's Club passes if someone really recommends that one.
Green Market looks the way to go...

Rainforest (says its 4 hrs max so prob not good for me): reminds me of a typical cheap internet cafe in Asia with a "rainforest" theme. I looked around at the reception and didn't bother to go in. They have day beds (extra cost) with partitions, but works out more expensive than a transit hotel budget room.
Ambassador Lounge (alcohol and rooms extra): there are 2. bars were self-serve so I don't know how they can charge for alcohol. They made me wear a big sticker that shows the expiry time of my stay (6 hrs I think). Washrooms /showers were co-ed and the feminine sanitary disposal box had no cover- yuck! No lounge chair.
Green Market - It's a "Japanese" restaurant. no shower/washroom. My cards (AE/Diners) gave me the same set menu: small decent appetizer+dessert buffet, 1 non-alcoholic drink, 2 crappy Japanese dishes(thin grilled black cod, and a katsu don iirc). Oh they don't open overnight.
I always ended up with a budget room at the transit hotel. You are supposed to reserve months in advance, but I always managed to get a room by midnight without a reservation.

+1 on all your reco's. I'm in SIN now. As nice as this airport is, its exceptionally frustrating to navigate (you never know which terminal you are in, nor how to get to the next one). And the Transfer Lounge where you get your next boarding pass? How lame is that? They told me to show up at 3pm for my 4pm flight to get my BP. Serious?
Sleeping: I found a little spot called the Oasis which had some fully reclined seats that might put some biz class to shame. I caught a good 6 hrs of sleep there. Pretty weird to drop into slumber at 2am and wake up to a completely full airport at 8am!
Lounge: I checked all the lounges out at well. None offered any free beer. Green Market looked just like a restaurant, Rainforest a bit more secluded but sparse. Went for the Ambassador as it was the only one with shower facilities. The T2 one is right around the corner from a 7-11 selling cheap beer too (under S$3!), triple-bonus! :)
Ok, back to Bali! :)

If you have Priority Pass, the Skyview lounge in T1 is quite nice; it's the contract lounge now for DL, AF, KLM, and others. The location is mezzanine level over a big bookstore, straight ahead from T1 passport control and close to the T1 transit "lounge." I think PP has a four hour limit here too, but I'm not sure how it's enforced. They have basic showers, OK F&B. Not fancy, but better than the lounges that offer paid admission.
Otherwise, if you can't use SLK, I think the transit hotel is the best choice.
There's a cactus garden which is good for plane spotting but unfortunately is used as a smoking balcony. Don't miss the butterflies (where smoking is forbidden but there's no AC).
Another cool thing is the big slide. It's land side, IIRC in T2, and probably free if you spend enough money in airport shops. (Check details for the current offer.)
I too find the floorpan to be very confusing. Late at night the airside train stops or is very infrequent. I prefer to walk rather than taking the (also infrequent) bus between terminals.
Yet another great feature of SIN is that in addition to the free wifi cards from information desks, there are places that provide free internet connected computers. Use is supposed to be limited to fifteen minutes and this seems to work because there are no chairs. There are a bunch of these things, which look like a combination of a kiosk and a cubicle, around the information desks just before the elevators down to immigration, baggage claim, and customs.
